Kia released more info and photos of the all-new 2009 Kia Forte (Spectra replacement) last week and now we have even more images thanks to a leaked brochure for the new car.

The 2009 Kia Forte is powered by a 124 horsepower 1.6L engine or a 128 horsepower 1.6L diesel. A 2.0L 4-cylinder will be offered in the future.

Ha Ha...1st bitches.

As if that matters. What matters is that this looks to be a real contender for Kia. 124hp seems a bit underpowered for my tastes but it's aesthetically pleasing inside and out.

I like it and I can only see this vehicle increasing the image of Kia, save for bad reviews or major mechanical problems.

guy has a nice set of swimming goggles.

gm0n3y:

Nice looking car, possibly the best looking car in its segment. Now they just need to offer a better engine as an option and this would be great. The interior even looks pretty good.

Garrt:

I'll save judgment of the motor until I see fuel economy and reliability. Most of it will depend on the weight of it (i'm guessing around 2800lbs). The smaller motor will only be good for fuel economy if the power is sufficient to move the vehicle without strain. The PT cruiser is an excellent example, as the base model with the smaller engine actually gets worst gas mileage than the higher end version with the stronger engine.

Honda and Toyota do well with their 1.8 litre engines in the Civic and Corolla. The Fit and Yaris have similar sized engines (1.5litre) to the kia forte, but they also weigh only 2300-2450lbs.

ItchyDude:

With a better engine, better transmission, better styling, better build and component quality, more reliability, MUCH better resale value, this wouldn't be a half bad car .

I'm still amazed anyone buys a Kia - didn't they go bankrupt a few years ago only to be "rescued" by Hyundai? Sheesh...

Not a bad looking car. Looks better than the TSX imo.

I'm still amazed people triple post. Didn't they learn to wait 45 minutes for the button press to go through? Sheesh....

adrian:

not bad for a kia. now, people will start buying from the manufacturer.

2005 Kia Sorento EX 4x4 Owner:

I bought a 2005 Kia Sorento EX 4x4 new for my wife (it's what she wanted). It's fully loaded, even down to the towing package, auto-leveler, and remote start (if it was an option, we bought it). We are at about 49,000 miles on the car now and absolutely love it.

I also own a 2007 Infiniti G35 Sedan Sport 6MT (Yes, also fully loaded). Believe it or not, my wife and I enjoy the Kia for road trips over the G. Sure, the Intelligent cruise control and built in navigation is nice, but the Kia is better then I believe most people.

When my wife said she wanted the Kia, I'll admit that I was a little embarrassed. However, since owning the vehicle we are both very proud and can't wait to see the future of Hyundai & Kia, they are headed in the right direction.

PS: We towed our two PWC's behind this Kia a bunch of times, still zero issues with the Kia.

chad :

the new forte is said to have a new (but old) engine supposedly from the old kia optima and has 162hp. So it should have plenty of power for a smaller car and the coupe is said to have more.
