The changes and upgrades to the 2009 Honda Ridgeline have been revealed a little early thanks to the web.
On the outside the new Ridgeline gets a new grille that is not unlike the Pilot's, new front bumper and lights and new tailights. The revisions to the interior include a revised HVAC, steering wheel and the addition of Bluetooth and a 115-volt outlet. The 3.5L V6 gets a very small bump in power and now puts out 250 horsepower and 247 lb-ft. of torque. The 5-speed automatic has also been revised.
The revised and still not pretty Ridgeline will be in showrooms this September.

What I don't like about the Ridgeline is that they (Honda) think they have to give it a truck like interior just because it's truck like.
Why not give it an interior similar to that of the Odyssey or Accord...you know, quality and style?

Why not a two door/access cab version with a 4 cylinder?

Wow, 140 MPH on the speedometer! Yikes... I think the speedometer is telling on the entire vehicle (I can't call it a truck). It's trying to be something it is not, and then only at the bottom of it's class, a class where it simply fails on all accounts to compete. I like Honda's and own a '08 Civic EX coupe - a great car BTW, I have also owned 6 trucks from Toyota, Ford, Chevy and Nissan. Almost killed in an accident when the Toyota rolled over after slidding on ice, Nisson ran well except it constantly died on the freeway, the chevy was a work horse but boring and the two Ford's I owned were absolutely rock solid and more reliable (perfect) than all the rest. I can't imagine why anyone would buy this car when so many other great choices exist.

@Sparky:
The full size Nissan/Toyota/Ford/GM trucks serves a distinct demographic. However, I disagree with you with why someone would choose this vehicle. It is really for people who like the idea of a truck (open bed for HD runs) , seating for 5 , and carlike handling (independent suspension front/rear). For those who need a strong tow vehicle, a full size truck from the others would suffice but for surburban duties a Ridgeline would be a good option.

The Crapalanche didn't do so hot, and i don't see very many of these on the road either. The 2'nd generation Avalanche dumped the plastic cladding and looks much better, but still doesn't sell.
And the same old tired arguement about American trucks applies here. Especially since few contractors, or anyone for that matter, use a Ridgeline as a work vehicle. It's not even a good car since with 4 people in it, there's no dry place to store baggage.
It's going to be a bloated daily driver for an individual, maybe even a soccer mom car here and there. But let's be real. The RAV4 is now a fatter SUV. The CR-V is now a fatter SUV. The ground clearance has vanished on both, and it looks like a minivan raped them somewhere over the past 8 years.
Just like every other American gas guzzling truck being used as a daily driver, it's time to kill the Ridgeline. Or am i wrong just because it's a Honda ?

@longdxcommuter
Your probably right about the HD runs, the occasional soccer trip with the kids, hauling yard trash, etc..
@Trooper Bri
Agree about the Avalanche, always thought that after a few years all that plastic gets old, gray and brittle (at least looks). I believe the new Chevy truck is doing very well as is the new Ford and Toyota's. Given the same $ and nearly same MPG, I'd pick them over the Ridgeline instantly. Just cause it's a Honda doesn't mean it's the best vehicle for the money. I have the Consumer Reports magazine that compared all the trucks in a special report, and they left out the Nisson (was rated #1 by CR when first came out but then found to be poor relialability) and the Honda Ridgeline (I guess it can't compete without looking poor, but they rated it over the F-150 when it first came out too). Love the baised reporting and egg on their face! But I digress.
If you want a truck, get one that can do it all. They are dirt cheap right now, really cheap. Maybe Honda will then focus on what they do best.
