Facelifted 2009 BMW 3-Series to Debut in Paris

BMW is going to unveil a revised 2009 BMW 3-Series this fall at the Paris Motor Show.

The new 3-Series will benefit from revised front and rear fascias that draws some of its inspiration from the recently unveiled all-new 7-Series. BMW design boss Adrian van Hooydonk said that the goal for the revised front end was to make it look wider. Which includes a heavily modified front bumper, a new hood and revised headlights. Out back the 3-Series gets revised taillights and a new rear bumper.

On the inside there are revisions to the driver's side door to make the window controls more accessible. The much hated iDrive has also been revised with four selection buttons to make it a little easier to use.

The two current powertrains carryover, but the big news is the addition of the 335d with its 265 horsepower 3.0L diesel engine that meets U.S. emissions standards. The 335d will only be offered in the sedan. The six-speed manual and six-speed automatic will also carryover. It is rumored that the 3-Series will also get BMW's new dual-clutch transmission.

The revised 2009 3-Series will be on sale in the US this fall.

Stay tuned for more details soon.

papa:

rear looks much better than current 3 series sedan ..

dracolnyte:

lmao, now the rear end just looks like it slapped on a blob of red for the taillights X)

Rich Spoiled Prick:

Why does everyone hate having the color orange on their car?

I hate the GVT, but kind of wish they'd make orange turn signals a law. They stand out SO much more than just a red signal. With just red sometimes you're not sure if it's a brake light or turn signal because you might only see half the rearend with your head turned. Orange is the way to go.

The revision does look better, I just wish there was some orange on the back.

Hmm:

Maybe if you weren't such a stupid prick and got your nose out of my rear end you wouldn't have that problem. brown noser.

Saheed:

The rear looks too much like a Saab. (Not good!!!)

Picky:

The design is getting long in the tooth...How about some creativity, already? Looks like my Grandma would drive it.

Gaston:

They all look the same with goofy numbers...
