Earlier this week Ford gave spectators their first look at the new 2010 Ford Mustang, although it was heavily camouflaged.
Now comes word that the new Mustang is going to officially debut at the LA Auto Show this November. It was originally planned to be unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show next January. The unveiling of the 2010 Camaro probably had a little to do with the unveiling of the Mustang being pushed up.
It's already been reported that the new Mustang will look smaller than the current generation. Expect revised V8 and V6 engines. It's also been rumored that the Mustang could receive a version of Ford's 3.5L EcoBoost V6.

If it looks anything like the Italian designed concept, this car will sell really well. I was hoping for a Turbo 4 base option though...

hmm, from what I see through the camo, the front looks pretty similar to the current 'stang, although it looks more "pointy", kinda like the *dare i say it* new Camaro
and it seems the mustang finally gets body-colored side mirrors, not just plastic ones

So this will probably be for sale in q2 2009 as a 2010. The Camaro will be for sale in q1 09 as a 2010. Why do carmakers do that? It's ridiculous. They're obviously 2009 model cars, just call them that.
Does anyone else remember when Chevy released their current SUV lineup in the very end of 2006 as 2008 models?!?!
There should be some sort of agreement between manufacturers to stop this ridiculous crap. If something is realeased in 2009 it's an '09!!!!!!!!!!!
I get my magizines in over a month early as well. I realize it's going to be on the newstand for awhile, but it's kind of a lie if I get March's magazine at the end of January. The information doesn't reflect the news of the month that's printed on the spine, or even the month before, like it should. If a car I like was unveiled in January I'm going to have to look at March's magazine to see it.

It's not stupid- you just have to know something about how the gov't determines model years. For a car to be considered a 2010, it just has to be on sale on jan 1 2010... They're going to debut it Aug 2008, sell it by Mar 2009 and on jan 1 2010, the 2010 model is still selling, though nearing the end of its model year.
Car makers do this because they want to appear ahead of the curve- selling newer cars earlier.
Ever wonder how the '64 mustang has retained the title for most cars sold in one model year (~649,000 IIRC)? Because the 64 was on sale for like 19 months... Honda and Toyota won't catch that unless they pull the same stunt...

if u look at every CURRENT GEN mustang, they ALL have plastic side mirrors. Even the Shelby GT500KR uses plastic. That black mustang w/ silver stripes looks like it has body colored mirrors only cause its black, and ford uses black plastic... I would know - i have a 2008 Mustang Bullitt in my garage, and it has plastic side mirrors
I know im making a big deal out of it, but i think that small touches like this show that Ford is making an honest effort to improve the quality of their products. Think of it this way - even the Chevy Aveo has body colored side mirrors

The maroon one is a 2004 or older model. Back when Ford could paint a mirror body.

I don't get why this is getting treated like a new car or something. There isn't enough difference (visible of course...even with the bra on) to make a determination. If there is a tweak here and there with mirrors and the front fascia...big deal...it isn't a new design...just a tweak of the existing design. Also...per the comment above...how do small touches like this equate to an honest effort at improving quality? My brother has a 2005 GT (which from the above picture will be almost the same car still) and while I love the sound and it is fun to drive...does not qualify a statement of "quality." It rattles like crazy and has been to the shop a bunch of times in 20K miles for things like poorly installed anti-theft device (locked my brother out of his own car and wouldn't let him start it with the key) and a failed alternator. I hope Ford improves quality, performance, mileage, etc. etc., but there is no way to tell from this picture. We'll have to actually wait and see if they have "made an honest effort" to improve quality and build a good car.

All mustang side mirrors are supposed to be painted with the body color but sometimes we forget because of all the stress the company places on us. I suggest you buy a black Mustang so it won't matter so much.

they need:
A Base V6, pumping out 315+ hp
the ecobost V6 with 380+ hp
the GT with a new 5.0L V8 420+ hp
And just one special edition 5.7-6.0 supercharged V8 blasting 550+ hp with 600 lbs of torque to the wheels not just crank.
That would destroy the Challenger and Camaro.
Too bad I don't see that happening. Please prove me wrong Ford!
