2009 HUMMER H3T Starts at $31,495...Will Anyone Care?

HUMMER has announced the pricing for its the pickup truck version of its smallest SUV, the H3.

The HUMMER H3T has room for five-passengers and includes a five-foot-long bed for all your stuff. The pickup comes standard with full time four-wheel-drive, 32-inch tires and an integrated bed liner. 33-inch tires and front and rear locking differentials are available.

The 3.7-liter five-cylinder will be standard, but a 5.3-liter V8 will be available.

The 2009 HUMMER H3T will be in showrooms this September.

HUMMER Announces Pricing for All-New H3T

DETROIT – HUMMER announced pricing today for its highly functional and capable H3T midsize pickup truck arriving in dealerships this fall in the U.S. and Canada. Pricing will start at $31,495, including a $745 destination charge.

The all-new H3T is based on the architecture of the popular H3, and features a five-passenger crew cab and a separate five-foot-long (1.5 meters) bed. The H3T is infused with the attributes expected of a HUMMER, including exceptional off-road capability and a premium interior that is as functional as it is comfortable.

The H3T features an extensive list of standard equipment, including full-time electronic four-wheel drive, a standard integrated bedliner with built-in storage, a cargo management system plus HUMMER's premium five-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty plan.

"The H3T carves out a new segment in the midsize truck market, providing an outstanding combination of functionality and capability," said Martin Walsh, HUMMER general manager. "This will be the ideal truck for the buyer who need a truck's functionality for his or her lifestyle pursuits, but is looking for an alternative to the full-size truck."

The H3T stands apart from other trucks with the one of the industry's broadest array of accessories and signature HUMMER off-road capability. It is the only midsize truck to come standard with full-time four-wheel drive, 32-inch tires and functional skid shields. It also is the only midsize truck to offer front and rear locking differentials, as well as 33-inch tires.

The 2009 HUMMER H3T is scheduled to arrive in dealerships in September 2008.

Well at least this thing could actually be used for something aside from hauling kids to the mall with. Not that it will be used for that, but at least this Hummer isn't a total waste of resources...

Not defending GM, however in their eyes the H3 is built on the Colorado/Canyon chassis, so it is a comparably low cost model for them. The real question is whether the backlash against trucks/SUV's (with Hummer being a primary target) will even allow this vehicle a chance. Gas prices in the States are hovering a $4/gallon and truck sales are stagnant. GM could do the model justice by offering a nice common rail diesel ( like the one developed jointly w/ Isuzu for other markets).

Yes, it may be a wasteful gas hog, but its still kinder on the environment than the Prius. Hard to believe, but true. I guess transporting those raw material back and forth across the ocean combined with those batteries are big-time no-no's for mother earth.

Maybe that should be the marketing strategy that GM uses. Might not work for the common man concerned about $4/gallon, but for those rich enough to put gasoline in it, at least they wouldn't have to feel like they were being "anti-green."

Hummer+trailer = 11-12 mpg. Box truck+same gear in trailer = 6-10 mpg.

I guess we should key box trucks now too.

Even with the 5.3L it should be able to do 16/17 mixed driving. (depending on driving habbits of course) which are comparable to a normal truck.

Don't be a child. Research nickel mining and see how environmentally friendly most hybrids are. Fuel economy is only part of the equation.

I'm probably in the minority, but I've had this theory that back when the first gas price spike hit (remember, it was 1.50/gal one night, and the next day, nearly 2/gal, and the world came to an end?), they should have kept the H1, and raised the price to like 150k, maybe even 180k, and not even bothered with the brand diluting wrecks that are the H2 and H3. People would have still bought the H1s, just because they were wicked awesome, and they didn't care about gas mileage anyway. And it would have pushed it into an exclusive market, quelling the whining of the "HUMMERs are bad for the planet" crowd. It also would have greatly improved the profit margin of the truck. Maybe the next group that buys HUMMER, if they don't just kill it, will make good on an idea like that. I'd dig it.

It's been stated that truck sales are the lowest ever. Even so, most trucks that purchased now, if used for hauling, won't be used off-road. Since this Hummer is built on the same platform that the Canyon or Colorado is built on, why not just buy a Canyon or Colorado and save yourself a few grand for gas?

You hit the nail on the head on this one. Turn the Hummer into a niche brand and charge an obscene amount of money for them. Sort of like the Rolls Royce and Bently or Maybach of SUV.

Don't laugh; as long as there are people who will buy Ferrari and Lambo out there, there will be people who will buy an over-the-top SUV. The problem is whether those who runs Hummer can make the brand profitable as a low volume manufacturer like Ferrari and Lambo.

Maybe some oil-rich Arabian prince is willing to take Hummer from GM and do just that.

First, i'm agreed with 426Hemi. There's only one true Hummer.

I couldn't believe the first time i drove the H2. What a joke. I'm 6'2" and felt cramped inside it. Every other aspect could be reproduced better from almost any truck, and a 4x4 performance catalog. And for less.

Up close, the H3 looks and feels like a big matchbox car on a Colorado platform. The 5 cylinder that felt fine in said Colorado, made for a gutless performance experience.

And now for on $31,000 i can have yet another rendition of a plastic clad Tonka toy wannabe Hummer pickup ? Uh, no thanks. I'll take a well equiped F-150 or Silverado for less.

Wake up GM. Nobody is fooled anymore. For every fake Hummer i see on the road, i see 20 FJ Cruisers.

Make it pure Electric, and I'd consider buying one. It's very cute and I'm sure my 10 year old would love it. Maybe love it enough to wash it weekly.
He loves my mini cooper too. :) I told him if we still have it when he's driving age it's his for the taking.

To me, Hummer died the year they killed off the H1. But thanks to the H1 Alpha, it at least went out with a bang.
