The first photos of BMW's all-new 2009 7-Series have leaked onto the web before its official unveiling.

Since BMW has yet to officially release a press release for the new 7-series most of the final details are scarce. It is rumored that the 750i and 750iL will get the same 400 horsepower twin-turbo V8 that has recently been introduced in the X6. Other possible powertrains are a twin-turbo six-cylinder with 326 horsepower, diesel engines and maybe even a hybrid.

Inside the 7-Series will get all the latest technology, which includes massaging rear seats, a lane departure warning system, night vision, adaptive cruise control, a revised iDrive, etc.

Expect more details soon.

google in the dash thats perty sweet. of course this mod is do-able on any car but it looks nice-er from the factory...

now im not trying to bash the american auto industry but who dont the designers of caddilac or lincolin take some notes from a car like this one and make their own 7 series caddy or town car? not every model has to have all the gadgets but a few upscale ones could fetch over 100K if they where in the same league as this example and then their overall image might be better off. im not saying the car has to be fast it just needs to have class and quality oozing from every body panel and a few tech peices and all of a sudden you have a winner?

its funny that gm with its vette and dodge with the viper and ford with the GT all of wich are their makes respective flagships arent classy sophisticated vehicles they are mind shattering speeds are all they offer; so what if i dont speed and i want to be taken seriously band feel like im on a private jet everytime i drive to work then what do they have to offer a cts-v thats also 550hp but not classy enough in my opinion... maybe speed is killing the american automotive industry?

Meh...... BMW... AUDI......... whatever........

I LOVE WHINING !

Andrew:

Finally BMW is showing how they REALLY feel about their cars!!

First the 1 Series and now the 7 Series both have a scared or frighten look.....

If the car could speak it would be.... where am I.... what am I..... help!!....

Another overpriced P.O.S. from Germany...oh wait, they are made in the US for the US market... Another Redneck germany car....

Andrew doesn't know what he's talking about:

BMW's 1,3,5&7 series are made in Germany. The SUV's and the Z4 are made in the US. You're an idiot.

I think the 7 series is ugly, it has been for 6 years now. The new one is maginally improved but still quite ugly. There's a reason their resale value are horrid.

Why does every car on the market now have head and tailights that curve around the side of the car in some funky triangle thing. It's pretty stupid. It's like they're copying Toyota.

Hopefully they'll keep the 12 cylinder available as an option. Otherwise, I hate everything about the car. I even own a BMW, they're probably my favorite brand.

They seem to hate the idea of putting an LSD in a non M car and it still irks me.

Ted:

The back looks a bit like the new Citroën C5; don't really like the black-plastic area containing the foglight enclosures (too wide?); gives the front an odd look

JerryL:

I think an earlier poster hit at least one nail on the head: Though there are some styling improvements from the previous body; it's still bland and not distinctive (at least not in a good way) on the outside.

I'd love to ride in the back of that. The front has that electronic shifter I'm dodging like the plague

longdxcommuter:

I have a friend with a current generation 7Series. While it is a nice car, the techno babbles on it really take away from it. The Idrive interface is horrible, the starting procedure is needlessly complicated, and the thought of replacing any electrical gremlin is jarring. Amazing, He was hit broadside. His vehicle was totalled and he purchased a 3Series instead. (He was starting to tire of the electrical problems of this vehicle)

bmw's are for pimps. fine gentlemen drive mercedes benz

gm0n3y:

Meh, boring, mildly ugly.

DatMan:

Almost looks like BMW stretched their old 7 series skin over a LEXUS LS460 body...

After all the risks they took with the last gen 7 and current 5 series, it seems like they're going back to bland... well, at least with this 7...

Allen:

Wow, TR is behind the times, BMW's official release was already dissected by egmcartech.

Anyway, I like the new one. Much better looking than the last model I thought. Where as two gens ago the 7 series was spartan and last gen (whats currently on sale) tries to look like the previous gen with some fat, this one looks solidly like an all new direction.

I'm dissappointed with the transmissions. So far its six speeds all across the lineup. While thats still good, 'normal' cars are getting six speeds now. A 7 speed auto, or even an eight speed, would've been better. I'm beginning to feel the Germans have lost their touch.

Timeless:

Ugly is the word that comes to mind.

RX-7 Guy:

Umm how does adding 7 or 8 gears improve anything? Improve fuel economy, no. Improve reliability, no. Good for marketing for stupid consumers, bingo!

Cappy:

NOW THAT"S A CAR!!!!!! Forget these japanese vs american battles! Drive a BMW with near 50/50 weight distibution, nice tight handling, crisp styling, and nice amenities such as rear seat massagers and adaptive cruise control and the american and japanese cars just feel 2nd class.

426Hemi:

This car is just as bland looking as most other BMW cars on the road.

Cappy

"Crisp styling"? So what you're saying is it's only okay for BMW to have that much palstic inside thear cars.

(You may now post as me to "prove" how much of a retarded I am.)

thetruth:

Sweet, lcd screens in the headrests, I bet the 2010 model will have neons and spinners. The lane departure warning is probably usefull for people that can afford this considering how preoccupied they may be with wide use of blackberries, but other than that the techno stuff is rather old news. Night vision and massaging seats were done a while ago, adapative cruise control came out a few years back....I'm sure it's all nice and I'd love to have one, but not more than any other luxury sedan of this class.

SVT:

yea yea yea lotsa hate on the aesthetics of the car, but you're all forgetting what bimmers are... the ultimate driving machines... nothing else drives like a BMW, it is not obvious from the pictures and so-called car guys here don't even know it. who here has actually driven new (by that i mean '08) 7-series or any of the new BMWs for that matter? what? only 1 hand there in the back? I thought so....

Cappy:

Sorry it has too much plastic in the interior. Would you like the interior to be made out of platinum instead and have tempurpedic seats. Oh wait a minute then you guys would bitch that all that stuff would be going over board and that it's "overpriced German crap" some people are real morons or in his own words "retarded".

426Hemi:

Looks like I need to work a little harder on my proof reading. (ooh well mooving on)

Cappy
If BMW makes thear cars looked even half as good as they drive, trust me, I'd be all for them. Till that happens, I'm split.

kazem:

very good
