Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. The car is beautiful!

cobaltssman:

My gaydar just went off. Oh wait, that's because Jung is in the room.

Jung:

literate != gay

Brian:

153hp turbo?! 1.7L, doesn't that seem a little low for a 1.7L TURBO? I mean on the low end you have the 1.8L 1zz-fe pushing a meager 130hp, and opposite the 2zz-ge pushing 180hp out of 1.8L...

Maybe the turbo gives it better efficiency?...

I can't say I hate it or love it. I mean it's an Alfy, it just is. Like a BMW is a BMW, or Jag. You either love it or don't care.

I don't really see this selling well against the GTI or Clio. Maybe if it is tuned well and has good grip (and yes FWD can have good suspension geometry and grip) it will hold it's own.

cobaltssman:

@ jung
dude i didnt post that. I didnt call you gay. and im not illiterate. it was that chick CKV. I told her to shut up with the "I LOVE WHINING" shit and shes been posting things under my name

Jung <> straight

cobaltssman:

akkadain:

for an italian car, the front end looks an awful lot like the face of a snobby british butler...
is it fwd? I didn't see that anywhere, but i didn't bother to read the links either, so someone please reward my laziness with free info

kw:

Kind of dopey looking. Not a fan. HP predictions are promising, but not much else to go on. Wait and see.

@Brian

The most likely reason for such a low HP number from the 1.7l turbo engine was probably because Alfa chose a smaller turbo for that model. Smaller turbos won't give high horsepower numbers, but they will spool up much faster than a larger turbo. It would also reduce lag and increase engine response. Peak HP also comes at a lower rpm. These characteristics add up to make the car *seem* like it has a much larger NA engine since driveability is much improved. With proper gearing, you wouldn't need to rev the engine all that much to have some serious fun.

On my last MR2(aw11), I chose a small GT20 turbo for the 1.6l engine. Although I doubt the engine put out more than 200hp, it was a beast from 1500rpm to 6000rpm. The turbo spooled like instantly, and torque at low rpm was barely manageable. It was serious fun to drive.

nice car,
unfortunately they will rot-through on the ship to USA

DatMan:

Didn't anyone read the sentence that said "the GTA version will feature a 1750cc turbocharged engine with 230 horsepower"? So 1.75 liter turbocharged with 230 HP... not bad... in such a small package, that would be serious fun...

Can't wait to test one on the road, already telephoned my Alfa dealer to try and make an appointment. But they still don't know when it will be available.

Michael:

The turbocharged 155hp engine is not a 1,7liters, but it is the 1,4 turbojet that goes in fiat 500 abarth, grande punto abarth and abarth ss,the bravo, the new lancia delta etc. These engines come in different outputs due to different mappings
