Thanks to the Camaro5 forums we now have or first look at what looks like to be a production-spec 2010 Camaro SS in silver.
Note the SS badge next to the front headlight. The Camaro was caught on set filming for a new Christian Slater TV show that is going to debut this fall.

It looks better than all those test mules. The ass end looks unfinished, and the whole thing looks puffy like it's on steroids. I'm sure that GM still hasn't figured out that one the the biggest day-to-day annoyances of the last generation was that there was no interior room and you couldn't see out of the damn thing. F-cars have never been roomy inside (except the first gen) but the outsides have grown bigger and bigger, and the interiors grew smaller and smaller (useful space). With the price of petrol, I hope that the thing is light (a la 1967) and has a small 6 cylinder tucked inside.

I have to agree with John. The exterior has been adjusted on the exterior to a point where it doesn't look like a high performance sports car anymore. The pictures I've seen make the Camaro look a lot taller and more bloated than the gorgeous Bumblebee in Transformers. I don't even think lowering this car would set it right...from the pic above, the fenders aren't showing that much gap already. Oh well. Maybe it can make up with performance. We'll just have to see. Wrong car at the wrong time. A little too late.

Love all the old styling cues coming back. So tired of all the eggs and boxes. Now this stands out in a crowd and has a look like no other while still being down right sexy.

Bad timing for this car. It's about three years too late. It will sell in low numbers then be discontinued after a couple of product cycles. I won't even comment on the styling/weight/performance because that's irrelevant at this point.
This vehicle feeds the egos of the designers and many of the Chevrolet executives; THAT is not a good thing and demonstrates short-term thinking.

completely useless car,
unless it comes with 4-cyl diesel, then it is only half useless.

Heil Haider
This is one of the ways to get you out of the closet.
Maybe one day you can afford a diesel, and maybe a Toyota.
By the way, this blog is called TORQUE report, retard, so it is the natural place for Diesels.

I'm not loving it. I like Chevy and all, but I just can't get behind this thing. It's not even the plumpness, it's the roof. I can't stand the fact new cars have super low roofs, and tiny side windows. Hello, I'd actually like to see out. If you compare this with a 69 Camaro SS you'll see the old designed roof is probably 30% taller, which makes everything seem more proportional.
As far as gas and mpg, really? REALLY?! Who buys an SS V8 model for the mpg? Diesel? WTF? Really? Are you people serious? Sometimes the rest of the world just doesn't understand.
You buy the V8, cause JEGS, Summit Racing, and every other car site has a BILLION go fast parts. Cut a hole in the hood, slap on a Weiand blower, tweak the fuel system, and that's an easy 400+ hp. Rebuild the motor, tweak the suspension and you could easily push 700hp. That's why you buy the V8. Not cause it gets good MPG. If you love the smell of a car running without a catalytic converter, then you know why.

@waldork
Yeah those 4 banger diesels got some serious balls to the wall torque right? LMAO

I'm sure this car's going to have over 400hp from the factory... with FI you'd better be pushing 600 or you've wasted your money. The question I've got is will the thing handle without having to totally rebuild the suspension like every other F-Body ever made.

Step 1:
Slap a Pontiac badge on this and make it the GTO.
Step 2:
Go back to the 1993 drawing board and come up with a freshly styled performance oriented vehicle that is as cheap and as light as possible. Not a bloated expensive pig with generic styling.

Do you even understand the concept of a SS vehicle? Here's a hint, if you are worried about milage its not the car for you.

The Camaro is GM's late attempt at challenging Mustang and its late because instead of being introduced when the economy was stable and gas was cheap (like the Stang) they introduced it when middle america's losing it's home and job.
I think most people if will skip this over and go for the Malibu because its one of the best compromises on the market now.
This will probably sell a few thousand at first but die out in 2-3 years. Then GM will say they're continuing to lose money and cut jobs.
They've wasted money that could have gone into making excellent Japanese sedan killers.

I owned a 1969 Z-28 for 25 years and I really like this "new" Camaro. 100% of it no but all things considered GM did a great job. GM certainly took some styling cues from 69. Of course its lower and "fatter" it's called aerodynamics as for the rear end looking unfinished it has shades of a C6. In my opinion GM put a lot more thought and styling into this than Ford did with the Mustang. The sales on these will not even come close to the Mustang given the cost of gas and some thieving dealers will jack up the price way over sticker.
Yes as usual GM is way behind the curve on releasing this. As for comparing it to the lousy attempt at re-releasing the GTO that piece of crap was doomed from the start! I hope all the dealers that jacked up the price on those by 10k plus got burned bad. As for the high H.P. version I want one! I am consistently amazed by the idiots that ask me what kind of mileage do I get in my 1967 Vette, you don't buy muscle cars for mileage, you buy them cause your a "gearhead" and there is no such thing as too much H.P. in this case to blow the doors off the foreign crap that the kids race to day! Put them in a big block Chevy and make sure you put seat covers on first cuz they will sh*t themselves with the torque output! Last but not least if you don't like the car that's your choice but why do you keep posting and arguing like grade school kids? There ain't no cure fur stupid.

WEll.........jump ahead in time one year and the kid inside is alive and well. The green movement turned out to be nothing more than what it is.....a buzz word for the ill informed. Yes we still need a replacement for the internal combustion engine. No degree of whining or funding or legislation will change that.We have to trust that one with the gearheads. And from my experiances I have never been disapointed by them. So thats only an issue for the ill informed which will eventually be replaced by the well informed anyway so why did I waste my and your time with this. Well because nothing has ever happened for practical reasons. And the camaro is again the motivation that will fuel the fire. And we are well aware of the casualties of that infurno. Poor b------ds didn't have a prudent clue when that bus came up there street. The camaro is what it is.Pure and sweet motivation for the wonder that is the kid inside the general.
