A single photo of what is supposed to be the all-new 2010 Ford Taurus has been circulating the web today and here it is.
Although the photo looks like it was taken with a camera phone you can make most of the details on the front end and side of the vehicle. From this single photo it looks like the Taurus is finally going to have a bit more style.
What do you think?

Hmmm... Even though it's a bit blurry I'd say Ford may have a winner on it's hands. That looks much better than the current Taurus.

umm lots of praise for the car but did anyone notice this thing looks like a nissan? should american car manufacturers copy asian manufacturers (who in turn copy europeans) to boost sales?

Looks like an oversized Mondeo. And, I like the looks of the Mondeo. And over-sized = great. I sense success.

I'm still waiting for America to design and manufacture an economical, reliable small car. Cause like, that's actually where the market's heading.

in previous press releases, Ford was raving about its:
'Distinctive 'kinetic design' styling gives personality and presence'
Apparently, the designers had a new brilliant idea... and kinetic is out of the window.
Something that was making Ford different (in a positive way) now gone. New design language. Everyone in the office buzy, no progress made vs the consumer.
This car here look like the new Camrygenesisaccord.

The design finally looks like it's on the right track. The front end could be a little better, but is acceptable. Nice body lines and overall design. I wonder if this is the design that will make it to showrooms or not? Then, there is always the lag issue. Ford, and the domestics, take so long introducing a new vehicle that it can be 'old' by the time it's released.

Come-on, its now already bland.
Ofcourse we like a 2010 design now in early '08.
Based on the reactions above, Ford should pull the design, and start new.
This design, that will be the 'latest' model from 2010 to 2014, will only do well at AVIS.

I think that it looks great, it is a vast impovement, in the terms of styling, compared to the current Taurus. I like Ford's new designs, the Focus, Edge, and now this, I may actual buy one.

1. It does greatly resemble a nissan
2. If it is good under the hood and is reliable then the styling is less of an issue IMO. People who really care about styling often end up customizing anyway.

Boring! Ford can't win (or make a comeback) trying to be like everyone else. No one wants a Toyota/Honda built by Ford. They need to innovate and be ahead of the game like the original Taurus at the time it was released.

There is one minor difference between this Ford Taurus and the Camry and Accord. The Taurus looks way better.

I think it looks good. All silver sedans look alike, but this one still looks good.
Ford is going to bring the Fiesta, so they'll have a small car.
Everyone hating on this car hates on domestics anyways.
The original Taurus was successful because it was very cheap, efficient, and roomy. It looked, drove, and sounded like garbage. If Ford produced another such vehicle you'd all point fingers at the 'crap' Detroit could roll of the assembly line.

It's a step ahead of the current design - new Accord headlights, last gen Nissan grill treatment. The problem with Ford is they copy current designs from other manufacturers and when the car finally hits the market it already looks outdated. When the Fusion styling hit the web, it looked good for the standards of the day (like 2 generations ago Accord). But by the time the car finally hit the showrooms the styling was already outdated. I have no idea what Ford was thinking when they designed the 500 with 1-2 generations ago Passat styling. They tried to make it more aggressive looking recently and badging it a Taurus, but it's just too "plain Jane" compared to the alternatives. Ford needs to gamble a little bit and offer some innovative designs. Take a chance like BMW and Nissan have done.

Now I would by a car that looked like that. Ford has not impressed me at all in recent years, but neither has GM. I was going to purchase a Honda or Toyota next, but I will wait for this car.

this is one hot ass ford, funny how the pic is so blurry its like how i see the world after a half bottle of Chivas and water, maby the beer googles make it look better. naw you can tell it looks handsome and elegant, its just missing a few compulsary american styling cues like side gills and more crome...

I'm usually the first to show dis-taste in anything Ford, but I actually think that looks half decent. It probably wouldn't be my first choice personally, but I do think it looks decent.
Not the most exciting design overall, but definately competent and on the right track. And you can probably bet it will get Ford's new twin-turbo-4 treatment, and probably make half decent mileage too.
Of the 3 North American manufacturer's, I like the newish Ford's the most. I'm not saying I'm wild over them, but they definately show the most potential.

The car reminds me of a Holden or a Ford Mondeo.
I am more interested in that clay model in the background. Looks like it could be the new Mustang, long nose and short cabin. The front profile reminds me of an SLR, while the back looks very this gen Mustang.

Many of you are hypocrites. Usually, if it is American car you bitch and moan about poor American styling, and the fact that the Big 3 need to take cues from the European and Japanese automakers. Then when they come out with something that isn't the horrible American styling we're used to, and they follow your suggestions, you bash it saying it is too much like the Japanese and European styling. Stupid. There have been so many car models and designs produced. You are only going to find so much styling differences when a good style is found. That is unless you're expecting Ford to come out with some super futuristic look, but then again you'd bash that too. For all your squawking why don't you get a job and lets see this elusive styling you have that will save Ford, GM, and Chrysler. I'm not a big fan of current American styling, but I am impressed with this new Taurus. Unfortunately, as mentioned before...it should've been a 2009. By 2010 it will be outdated. A little better timeline than the Camaro though.

I think it looks good, though it borrows a bit from everyone like mentioned above. But that isn't a bad thing.
My guess is that this car will be riding on the new Mazda6 platform which means it should handle well, and it will most likely have the Mazda 4 banger and their new 3.5L V6 which should be good for some 250+ ponies, add to that nice (subjective) styling and I don't see why this wouldn't sell.
People should stop hating American cars, and instead give them a chance and not write them off before even seeing the things in person. GM is doing not too shabby and it seems like it is finally getting it, now it's Ford's turn to do the same. They build a great truck F-150, so why wouldn't they be able to build a great sedan? The Mondeo is a very nice car, and highly praised in Europe, so let's hope they can deliver here too.

Wow, for a Ford vehicle, this car looks pretty decent. The first thought that entered my mind was that this car looks like the concept Hyundai Genesis before they changed it for the production model.
I noticed that in the last 2-3 years, Ford began offering cars with designs that look like Asian cars--mostly Honda and Hyundai. I think that's a good move on Ford's part since I think almost 98% of older Ford models look like crap and uninspired.
Go Ford!!
I, however, still will not buy a Ford or other domestic due to their reliability issues. Once they improve, I might begin considering them. Until then, I'll continue to choose from among Toyota, Honda, Hyundai, Nissan, and BMW.

"I'm still waiting for America to design and manufacture an economical, reliable small car. Cause like, that's actually where the market's heading."
It's called the Focus. Trying reading Edmonds or other web sites and you will it's power, handling, gas mileage and build quality are actually excellent.
Fords quality has jumped dramatically the last 5 years or so. This Taurus looks like Camry/Nissan hybrid but for a standard mid/full size car it looks great!

I must say, Ford, you have designed a car that for once, I might consider buying American. It looks like a revamp of the current Accord with long overhangs on the front. The smallish headlights make the front bumper look larger than it needs to be.
And, what's with the Ford Falcon? I saw it on Ford's site (Australia). If that car were here, there would ne jobs in Detroit. That is a great looking car!

Looks like a modern design that is made to compete directly with it's competitor's. It's about time. Now it just depends on the mechanicals and how thorough the engineering job was.

This has Mazda writen all over it and it's not surprising considering Ford owns 33% of Mazda, but then again Ford and Mazda products have shared the same styling Q's for years. This is by far the best looking Tauurs since the 92-95 second generation Taurus. I think ford has finally got a winner on their hands in the mid-size maket. Ford hiring Alan Mulally was the best thing that's happen to Ford in years. This guy is truly taking Ford on the right path.

To all of you complaining about American automakers quality, Ford's quality is the equilivent of Toyota and Honda. Just read Consumer Report and JD Powers. Toyota has had more recalls than Ford. This Taurus looks fantastic and I plan on buying on WHEN they come out!

Everyone is crying about this car looking like a foreign model but the fact remains that it's not. If you stare hard enough you'll find all kinds of similarities around the car industry. You accuse Ford of ripping off Toyota, but if you'll remember when the T-100 came out, it was a blatant ripoff of the F-150, even down to the name of the truck. What goes around comes around. I'd rather buy American and pay less for a quality product.

This will be a great car. For those that live here and bash anything American, even before it is released; please do us a big favor and move to Japan or Germany and stop dissing the products of the best country on the planet! As for reliabily, my neighbor owns a service shop and works on all makes and models, he has told me on many occasions that ALL cars break down and need repairs. He makes a good living on Toyota, Honda, and BMW cars. He actually makes more on foreign cars because the missinformed, pretentious, opinionated, self centered owners don't mind paying for the outlandishly higher priced parts.
