Honda officially unveiled the 2009 Honda Pilot Prototype at the Detroit Auto Show this past January, now we have the first photos and official info on the production model.
The all-new eight passenger 2009 Pilot is powered by a 3.5L V6 with 250 horsepower and 253 lb-ft of torque. The engine features the latest generation of fuel-saving Variable Cylinder Management™ (VCM®) technology that can operate the engine with all six cylinders for power or just four or three cylinders to improve fuel efficiency. This improves the fuel economy of the 2009 Pilot to 17/23 (2WD) and 16/22 (4WD). The engine is mated to a standard five-speed automatic and VTM-4 four-wheel-drive remains an option.
In addition to the enhanced powertrain the new Pilot has a new list of available features which include Bluetooth, Hill Start Assist, Power Tailgate, and a Tailgate with a lift-up glass hatch.
The 2009 Pilot will be available in four versions, LX, EX, EX-L and a new Touring model.
In recent surveys most respondents said the new design of the Pilot is too boring. What do you think?

At this rate if the American car manufactures cannot compete with what Honda and Toyota have been producing lately, then they are doomed.
This vehicle does not look very well designed. Too much distractions from every angle and the interior is just too ,,,, ugly.
Honda as of late has also done away with any vehicle tie ins. The Civic, Accord, and now the Pilot all have different designs with no similarities.
Oh well, Honda might make a reliable car, but I cannot drive something that ugly.

Boring on the outside, too busy on the inside, although the lines inside are good.

OMG, blah blah blah.
It looks better than the concept. The concept had ridiculous headlights. These appear a little too large still.
That shifter being on the dash is straight minivan style. What are they thinking? The whole interior looks like a minivan. Who are they trying to appeal to?
I kind of agree with TR admin, the front end is interesting, but I think the rest of the exterior looks great. The grill is... different.

The exterior is the second-coming of the Ford Bronco II from the mid-80s. Dashboard layout is a trainwreck....

Wow... are you serious? That thing is horrible looking... also I thought Honda engines were efficient? 3.5L V6 with 250hp and only gets 16mpg?? I understand its heavy but common! The interior looks like a bigger CRV interior! Disgusting

The inside looks cheaper than American Plastic Fantastic Cars! Gross. Honda's keep getting suckier in design, but the masses lap them up. BAHHHH Sheep.

UGLY as hell. Is this supposed to compete with the new Highlander?
It makes the new Ford Flex look good by comparison.
