The Knight Rider TV movie apparently received high enough ratings to make it into a weekly series according to the latest reports.
The new series has been green lighted for a premiere this fall due to the successful made for TV movie. Rumor has it that when the show is officially announced, NBC is also going to announce that it will be a contender for a Friday night time slot. You can expect at least Justin Breuning (Mike Tracer) and Deanna Russo (Mike Tracer's Girlfriend) to be in the series. In addition the Ford Shelby GT500KR will also be back for the series.

In the above interior picture there are head rests. In the pilot there were none. Also has seat belts, so I guess no "laser restraints" like in the original. Whiplash anyone?

Ugh. The "new" Michael Knight (Michael Tazer? Lazer? WTF is is stupid name?) is a pathetic excuse for a hero. He'll never have the stature or class of Michael Knight. Obviously the apple falls very far... Watching the pilot "movie" made me sad and regret that the 80s ever went away.
The new KITT has some cool features, but it obviously needs some upgrades if it can't successfully outrun a Ford crossover SUV in the twisty California mountains.

I tried to watch the pilot episode. I figured it would be a family series (like the original). Boy was I wrong. Very offensive - language and sexual perversion right from the start. Needless to say, it won't be airing in my household ever.
It's too bad really. I was really looking forward to the series.

This is a joke right???
Yay! Another TV show for the intellectually stunted...this show is going to be a waste of paper, disk space, and oxygen...
I wouldn't even watch it stoned..

Oh goody, I hope this doesn't air in Canada. We have enough crap on TV as it is. I'm sure this show will do well in the states where people watch nascrap (ie the south).

I didn't mind it - and the cameo from the Hoffmeister wasa nice touch.
I very, very much disagree with the choice of car for KITT.
Other than this, I enjoyed the pilot and can see hopefully good things from this series. (Big shoes to fill - just give it time)
Hopefully they tweak it a little before the series. (like get a decent car a little more true to the original!)
Cheers,
Rick

Go back to watching the Disney Channel you or some corny ass 80's show you tool. If you find that show really offensive, then you live in a box. Of course it's not a family show, because if it was then it would suck. I mean, what do you want shows to do, discuss their problems and everyone has a happy ending like they do on Disney Channel shows?

I'm with Icester, I won't let my kids near it either. What little TV they are subject to, they can watch the original series on DVD and at least build a solid idea of what nobility and heroics are truly about.
Let's compare:
Michael Long was an undercover cop, gunned down by sinister forces while doing the most virtuous of tasks. He is "brought back" as Michael Knight with a mission that one man (and his noble steed) can make a difference in the world by defending the oppressed and risking his own life to see that justice is carried out - not for material gain or ego, but for the sake of doing good. He's a geniuine hero that also exudes charm.
Michael Tracer is a bum who doesn't pay his debts. We find him in bed with two women (I know society is SUPPOSED to think highly of that) and he obviously cares nothing for the people around him as he gets his roommate mixed up in trouble. He's selfish, whiny, and arrogant. By the end of the pilot, he has not changed noticeably in any way.
If, by some amazing chance, the series changes some things and tries to adhere more to the original (morality-wise), it may be worthwhile - despite the horrible acting. After season one is over, I'll torrent the whole thing and check it out.

I agree with dennisil,
There is no replacement for the Hoff, and a Mustang? What a bad idea, Foundation for Law And Government must be hard up and can't afford a fine GM product anymore. Even in the 1991 movie they used the concept Pontiac Banshee, a Mustang just does not look like KITT, not that they are horrible, but just not KITT. At least it isn't a Toyota Prius.
