Mitsubishi's Outlander SUV is Going to Get the Twin-Clutch Transmission from the Evo

In addition to using the new twin-clutch transmission in the Lancer Evolution and upcoming Lancer Ralliart, Mitsubishi is also going to put the transmission in the Outlander SUV.

Early next year the Twin Clutch SST will find a new home in the Outlander SUV with steering wheel mounted paddle shifters. The TC-SST will be mated first with the 2.2L diesel. The benefits of the transmission include almost no power loss between shifts, better fuel consumption and lower emissions compared to traditional automatic transmissions.

The diesel powered Outlander with the TC-SST is expected to be unveiled this fall at the Paris Motor Show.

lowest IQ:

I think the doorhandles are also from the Lancer.

Cheap Car Lover:

Good idea. Diesel is a good idea too.

dennisil:

this thing should be better than it actually is i drove it its just the right size if your a woman and the quality is second to shabby, its doors where so light it felt like closing a laptop lid but not as rugges as a laptop much much more delicate. the only nice part is that the car is cheap but im sure once you add this tranny or a fluxcapacitor it will edge neer 30k

Brian Sizemore:

Why not just stick a manual in it?

You know manuals are easy to use, easy to fix, get good gas mileage, are fun to drive, and are easy on the wallet. Looks like a win win.

And you odds of getting car jacked are much less, at least here in the states.

(Yes a twin clutch type design is faster, but this thing is a 2.2L disel, it's not an Evolution.)
