Infiniti has released more info and photos of the all-new FX that was unveiled earlier this month in Geneva.
At the time of its unveiling Infiniti had only released info on the FX50 leaving many to hope that the V6 FX would get the new 3.7L engine from the G37 coupe, thereby dubbing it the FX37. Unfortunately this is not the case, the 2009 FX makes due with the 3.5L V6 from the G35 sedan. Power is slightly down from the G35 with 303 hp vs. 306 in the sedan. The V6 is mated to a seven-speed automatic with available paddle shifters. The more powerful FX50 is powered by a 5.0L DOHC V8 with 390 horsepower and 369 lb-ft. of torque. Unlike the FX35 which is available with either AWD or FWD, the FX50 has AWD standard.
The all-new FX will be in dealerships this June.

Bleh. Just what the world needs - another overpowered SUV that helps keep our gas prices high. Why bother making these things 4-wheel drive; like this thing is every gonna see off-road duty.

I'd have to agree on the off-road part. Anyone that is serious about off-roading doesn't buy luxury SUV's so that they can get scratched to hell.

I'm not a fan of this SUV or a lot of others, but I think this will be a hit with soccer moms, since it blends luxury, power, "safety" and "style". And the AWD is actually a beautiful thing when the roads are wet or snowy or icy.
Not saying this thing is 'awesome' but the AWD has its advantages in winter.

I'm sure the performance would be top-notch but...
- There are too many buttons on the center console. I'm still for BMW's idrive and simpler interface (steep learning curve, but better in the long-run).
- Those vents on the sides make just ruined the overall look. They're huge, and make this car look too similar to the 2008 Saturn vue.

I don't see much difference from the other FX's which if I bought a crossover this would be on my short list. The rest are too SUV or too car. At least this look like is was built to be a cross-over and a sporty one at that.
At least now a days most of the side vents are actually functional. Remember a cooler engine bay tends to lend to better performance, reliability and more mpg. I'm reaching for it, I know...
Once upon a time I owned an Eagle Talon TSI AWD. I even raced 4x4's across a snow covered field. Actually running away from a prank, stole the necks confederate flag. AWD drive is amazing and in colder regions well worth it's disadvantages.

if you own this vehicle on the west coast, then yeah its kinda pointless to have AWD {unless its raining} but if you own it on the east coast or anywhere in between really, then you better believe that AWD will come in mighty handy when the blizzards start to hit. so while i laugh at alot of these "luxury SUVs" for having 4wd or AWD, truth is rich people dont all live in CA. plenty of rich people live where you would actually need to have AWD.

Why the hell is this thing getting a 5L V8? And why in the bloody hell isn't Infiniti doing an M sedan with a 5L V8? I mean, the M45 is seriously underpowered, why not use this engine?

Have you ever driven one of these? the old one was a nice ride, very different than your average SUV, then again it should be seeing as it's based on a modified 350Z.

I own an FX 35 07. Can't wait to get my hands on this one, too bad I have mine for only 6 months, and I still have to pay for it in full.
Awsome ride. Drives like a real sports car reallly. Does not even lean on turns. Planted.
My next car will be an FX 50, hopefully. It's a beauty.

As others have commented, the FX provides a unique driving experience. I also agree that, from the side at least, the new front fenders aren't quite right.
The oddest bit, though, is that Infiniti now offers two crossovers with compact five-spot interiors.

Just what we need, another overweight, gas guzzling behemoth with a rollover problem. Bet it gets 12 mpg in real life.

You've criticized every car on TR. If you don't like cars, stop posting on car forums.
@ Allen
I'm sure the M45 will become the M50 soon enough.

Infiniti/nissan has alway made a good car... Maybe to good... cause now nobody will buy American made crap, American car makers are years behind.. The US has lost every war since WWII , the last good thing was landing on the moon. I like the Vette , just don't leave town without a cell phone and a list of hook guys...The USA is a 3rd world producer of goods !!!

@Johnnyboy
We did win the cold war. As far as American car makers go, I have to agree with you Johnnyboy. Their products are piss poor. Just about every non US base car maker puts out a better product. Like to add that the F-22 isn't to bad for a fighter, sure beats the hell out of those spear chuckers and rock throwers...
