After releasing teaser images of the 2009 European Accord and several spy photos of the Acura TSX, Honda has finally released the first official photo of the 2009 TSX.
The 2009 Acura TSX, which is essentially the same car as the European Honda Accord (different grille) is going to be officially unveiled next month at the New York Auto Show.
For 2009 the TSX gets an all-new design that is more evolutionary than revolutionary. It features a grille that is similar to the recently unveiled 2009 RL, although it looks a little less awkward on the TSX. Details were not released with the photo. There has been a lot of speculation about the new TSX, especially concerning the availability of the RDX's turbo engine and the SH-AWD system. The TSX is also going to be one of the first applications of Honda's new clean diesel engine.
Stay tuned for the unveiling of the Euro Accord a the Geneva Auto Show next month and the 2009 TSX at the NY Auto Show later next month.

Meh. Doesn't hold a candle to the rebadged Korean cars Chevy are palming off. Or does it.....

WOW!!!
Nice Nissan Altima profile, not to mention the beautiful fender flares!!!... NOT!
This car looks bloated, and those horrible fender flares will make even 18" wheels look small. This being a honda, it will sell well, even though it's styling is bland.

This new "corporate" grill is not good. It looks ever worse on the re-styled RL.
The fender flairs also look cheap. The only companies that pull off flairs on sedans in the TSX's price range are Audi and BMW.

I actually like the old TSX's look more. The grill is silly!
Whats up with the bug-eye headlights on the new Honda's?
Apart from 4wd, the 4cylinder turbo, and the diesel, not much is exciting about the changes. It looks like their focus was mechnical, and not cosmetic. Honestly, I'm glad they're focusing on performance.

Honda seems to be stumbling in the styling department lately. That front grille reminds me of a bottle opener, and those wheels look like 15's. It looks much better than the RL though. For the price I'll be looking at the RWD Hyundai Genesis V8.

Looks like a devolution more than an evolution... Perhaps it's one of those cars that looks better in real life than in pictures.
WTH has happened to the Acura design team??

Personally, I like the new look, and the new grille. I think it's miles ahead of the double-kidney-bean Pontiac look. Far more 'sharp' and modern looking than just about anything the domestics are throwing up onto the market.

Anyone who owns & loves Hondas (as I do - with an Accord and an RSX) knows that the beauty is rarely in the bodywork, but rather in the engineering.
Honestly, no one in here ever seems to like new designs. Always seem to see mostly negative comments.

@Dave.
I have owned 3 other Honda's and currently drive an Integra gsr. So trust me I understand the "Honda Beauty" you're referring to, however this car doesn't look better than the old IMO. The other great aspects of owning a Honda have been found in my wifes V6 Sonata as well, so Honda needs to step up it's game.
Check out the Hyundai threads and you'll see positive posts from most of the people in them. :)

I find it fine looking.
You are right though Dave, there is a always a group to denouce anything new if its from an automaker they don't approve of.
For instance, the Mercedes article just after this one.
I couldn't give 2 cents about any mercedes(or any of the inferior quality german brands ie; bmw, vw) so I tend to not comment on them.

The intriguing point in the article, to me, is the mention of the Honda diesel technology coming to the new TSX.
Here's something about it from a fewyears ago. http://world.honda.com/news/2004/4040506.html

I don't understand why they even have an Acura brand but do next to nothing to distinguish it from the Honda brand. I am sure that it is a good car, but it's like GMC and Chevy pickups, what's the difference? Do Acuras have better butt-warmers and cup-holders?
Honda definitely loses the marketing competition to Toyota, again.

@ Jake,
In the US and Canada, Honda offers two distinct brands. The TSX for US and Canada are Euro-Accords. There will not be a Euro-Accord in US showrooms. In a sense, Honda is doing what Saturn is going for GM. Most of today's new Saturns are Euro-GM cars.
For the most part the biggest difference between Honda and Acura are the included warrant packages. Hondas have 3yr/36k miles and Acura has 4yr/50k miles. With Honda everything is an option or an add on. With Acura it is based on packages, mainly two or three packages.
I have enjoyed both my Acuras and Honda products over the years. And as one other person mentioned on this site, Mercedes-Benz is a POS... I bought one last year and got rid of it due to numerous safety issues and trips to the shop.
I love how MB and BMW can market their cars like an iPod and people think it is the best thing since sliced bread!!!

Have any of the people that bash German brands actually owned a German car? I've had 5 different brands (no brand loyalty) from each of the different continents, mostly Japanese cars. German car's are definitly overpriced and a pain to maintain but they drive very very well. Despite the ridiclously high price, the BMW I had was still my favorite car. My dad sold my mom's '98 5 series for a 2005 Lexus and she complains about it. Nothing makes you truly feel in control of the road like a German car.
I currently have a Mazda. Reliability hasn't really been any better from my Japanese cars, but they're cheaper and easier to maintain... I'm cheap.

Thats a nice looking Saturn .... oh wait, that's not a Saturn? It's an Acura? ..... OUCH.
Seriously how do you design your car to look like a Saturn.
As far as German car's go there was a time when they were much much better made than anything ever to come out of Japan, I can't count the number of late 70's early 80's MB's I have seen that are still on the road, some of them are pushing 400,000 or even 500,000 miles by now. As things stand now it's sort of hit or miss almost on a modle by modle basis, oh that Golf is horribly unreliable, but the GTi is great when it comes to quality, and so is the A3, that sort of thing. Though even on the "bad" ones most of what I have heard are overly complicated interior trim bits that are failing on the German cars, not the power train stuff.
Oh and my Sentra which I brought brand new and have pampered as much as possible has made I belive 18 total trips to the shop for repair since it rolled off the lot in mid 2005, I honestly lost count of repairs after about the first 6 months of misery.

@D: If it would have looked like the linked picture (Honda Sport4), I'd be contemplating that car instead of the Genesis Coupe....

@Cheap Car Lover,
Yes, I did own a German car. It drove nice but spent way TOO much time in the shop. I have owned Acuras that also drove nice and spent LITTLE time in the shop.
The reliability factor in German cars are hit or miss whereas Japanese cars have proven over time to be the standard of reliability.
Now where Japanese cars have gone above the call of duty is Customer Service. Anytime I had a problem with my Acura, they were straight up on what the problem was and what they did to correct it.
When I Mercedes-Benz went in for service the Service adviser was not straight up. (Two different unrelated dealerships). One such service that was my final breaking point was a creaking sound that my MB started having. The Adviser informed me that it was normal for MB to creak......
