Yesterday we had our first view of the restyled 2009 Mitsubishi Eclipse, now Mitsubishi has released even more photos of the new car.
For the 2009 model year the Eclipse gets a restyled front end with an EVO-like grille and a restyled rear end. The GT model now has dual exhaust pipes which bumps the final output up two horsepower to 265.
Expect more details this week from the Chicago Auto Show.

Impressive. Mitsubishi is most certainly heading in the right direction with this. Too bad the eclipse steered away from AWD turbo but hey, 265 horses with a 6 speed tranny is not to shabby. Never have been a big fan of the Spyder eclipse but love the hardtop. The 'evo style' spoiler in the back is a nice touch.

I'm looking forward to the day that "altezza" lights will no longer be mass-produced.

It was never the exterior that kept me from buying this car, it was the interior. Seats were great, just the dash looked so cheap and gaudy. Can't wait to see those pics.

Too true. I own an 03 gt and i can say that the interior leaves a lot to be desired. However, i personally can't stand a cluttered interior with 46 knobs and 19 arbitrary dials. If the interior had a little more jazz it would be perfect. The 205 hp engine was kind of a disappointment but with a good cold air setup, headers and new fuel pump it didn't do too bad. After the ECU was reprogrammed i managed around 236 at the crank which i was satisfied with.

I had a used 1994 eclipse as my first car and I must say I loved it. I didn't like some of the styles after that but if this car checks out I would seriously consider it, it looks great on the outside.

I'll still be waiting for the Genesis Coupe to come out. I always found the eclipse to more of a chick car unless you're talking about the old school GST and GSX...

I would have to say the best performing/looking Eclipse since the 1999 GST/GSX models.
In fact, looking at these pics makes me think this is an evolution of the 2gb body style, and should have replaced it in 2000.
The 3G 2000-2005 was just a joke. 3.0L V6 with barely 200hp and that techno wannabe exterior. The interior was also pretty lame.

I think this car looks nice, making it rear wheel drive would be even nicer. I'm not a big fan of yellow though.

Is this really gonna be what it looks like?
After the ride height is raised, wheels shrunken, aerokit is financed out???

I own a 2007 Spyder GT. Dual exhaust would add a sporty touch, as would a redesigned dash that is void of motorcycle round style gauges.
As for the black accented front and rear end along with the spoiler; it looks a bit too 'rice' for me.
Mitsubishi- Can you hear me???? How about a tighter turn radius? A friggen full size truck can turn sharper than this little sports car. If we can't have this, than how about a trunk light?

does it bother anyone else that the front looks like they took it straight off a GTR?

These looks + rwd + reliability would sell, the only thing that stopped me from buying an eclipse a few years back was the horrid reliability.

@ John
From what I've read, this new eclipse does have good reliability. It's definitely a crappy car on the inside.

Holy shit, finally got the eclipse right after 10 years (since in 99 they stopped production of the previous best looking eclipse.) Looks good and 265 for a starting point is a solid alternative to the lancer/evo mix but in a coupe. HOT DIGGITIES ;-) me likey.

I personally think the eclipse starting at 06 to 09 is a really good looking car, im sure there are a few things that arent that good looking on it or that might not meet peoples expectations, but i'll tell ya its alot better then riding a bus :l
