In addition to the revised 2009 Galant, Mitsubishi is also going to unveil a revised 2009 Eclipse at the Chicago Auto Show later this week.
The main changes to the 2009 Eclipse are a new front end that is very EVO-like and a revised rear end with dual exhausts on the GT model. The dual exhaust adds two more horsepower to the 3.8L V6 which bumps its final output up to 265 horsepower.
The Eclipse GT comes standard with stability control, HID headlamps and a large rear spoiler.

A definite improvement.
Now why can't they at produce an attractive Altima/Sonata/Malibu competitor?

it looks better but what does it compete with.
it's like a fake sports sedan. its not even awd anymore and its heavy.

They should have ditched that heavy iron block for a turbo 2.4l then used the weight they saved to offer an AWD version. Like the old days. 2.4 tuned for 170 hp in the GS, 275 hp 2.4 with turbo in the GS-T and 275 hp 2.4 turbo with a basic AWD system like the Lancer Ralliart gets in the GS-X.
I hope they do this with the next gen Eclipse.
And I think the cosmetic tweaks actually look decent, it's not a true sports car but it's not bad as a cheap GT, it actually is fairly quick and handles as well as a heavy FWD car can.

I agree with all the anti-fwd and heavy car sentiments posted here.
I got a 4cyl eclipse rental car on a business trip and it was complete garbage. I can't see why anyone would buy this car instead of something else.
TURBO AWD! 2 door evo!

I like the looks of this car for the most part (back end could use a little work), but I agree that it needs to be either AWD or RWD. They need to either fix that or lower the price. The car itself isn't that expensive, but for the price I'd take an Altima coupe or the new BMW 1 series.

Looking at the American pricing, this and the Altima are $7000 cheaper than in Canada (and the USD is lower that the CDN) and while there is no Canadian pricing on the BMW 1 series, I think it will be more expensive that the Eclipse / Altima. Just clarifying my above post.

Ahh, gm0n3y, USD is not less than Canadian, I still USD is worth about 1.07 Canadian, last I checked.
But you and just about everyone here is right on everything else: it needs to be lighter, use a 4 cylinder turbo, and go away from this chunky styling. Its just not attractive.
Give us cheap, give us good, we do not need mind blowing fast, but then again with a cheap 2.4 cylinder turbo and a lighter car that is smaller and uses less materials, then maybe the car will be fast.

I find that this car is... EXCELLENT!!! If she competes with the other cars, of course she wins. I find that she has a look which tears, especially the front...

Stock parts on this car with turbo give you 450HP, and trust me even 263HP drives like mad.
