Nice exterior, probably awful handling and uninspiring made in Korea type of interior.
Its definitely American. They could easily sell this car without gas guzzling engines.

I think it's beautiful. One of the best looking cars in the world (The exterior). I wish all the Europeans would quite hating on American cars all the time.
If they would release it with 3 spoke steering wheel, 5.7 380 hp hemi, (most importantly) a 6 speed, LSD, and the unlimited powertrain warranty for $29,000 I'll go lay down the cash for one.
For now it's an OVERPRICED, flashy, old man's cruiser. How this car is in the same price range as a Corvette, with the gas guzzler tax included, blows my mind. I realize they sold out of them, but thats because of rich baby boomers, not because it's a decent deal.
They couldn't sell this without gas guzzling engines. For one, Dodge doesn't produce such a thing. Secondly, muscle cars are supposed to have big gasoline engines. No heterosexual male would buy this thing with a 4 cylinder deisel hybrid for the same price. Don't be ridiculous.

All I can say is WOW.
WOW as in what a fucking POS. I do agree that the exterior is nice with the retro coloring and sculpting. However that is about the only good thing i can say. The interior is as everyone so far has said. DULL. I love some american cars like the new Corvettes and plenty of current and classic cars, however American cars have the worst interiors. GM, Ford, and Dodge need to start dropping another 2-3K into decent interiors.
Secondly is the console. I mean my god for 37K at least make it look cool, not like a fucking MiniVan console. The console has CHEAP written all over it.
Lastly, performance is just pittiful. I mean for 425hp/420tq this car has TERRIBLE times. A low 5s 0-60...hahha disgraceful. And with a 1/4 mile of just under 14s meaning 13.8 or 13.9, that is just SAD. My brother bought a 2002 Firehawk and for those who know cars will understand how this is a limited edition car. This was the last year they made the Firehawk and all in all with an upgrated intake and suspension from the Factory it cost my brother around 39K.
1) it looked 5X better minus the normal american interior
2) it most likely get better milage
3) would toast this car EVERYDAY of the week with far less HP/TQ
The firehawk only had 335hp/350tq. It would run a 0-60 in 5.2(rated, but my bro ran it in 4.7 consistantly) and a 1/4 mile of 13.6 (ran 13.3 or 13.4 consistantly) since any good GM owner knows GM underrates their cars. The point im trying to make is this is yet another installment of a POS DODGE car for the current day market.
I'm sad to see yet another historical icon RUINED.

o: You are an idiot. Can't even spell WHAT or HAPPENED... moron. No wonder America is behind the rest of the world in education, with schmucks like you representing us.
The car itself is beautiful. They kept the retro styling from the concept car. The interior is a disappointment though, looks just like a Charger. I was hoping for something a bit more retro, to go with the exterior.
For the same $38k, I can get a 2-3 year old Corvette.

Everything you're looking for (minus 3-spoke steering wheel) and more is sitting at a Pontiac dealership: 2006 GTO.

You know good and well this is a far more attractive looking car than the GTO. But I do think the GTO was a sweet car.

I love the exterior. Like the deep side bolstering of the seats. Find the dash to be uninspiring, and the silver bits on the steering wheel look like after thoughts that will break off and be an eyesore in a couple years.
Mechanically it's got numbers which offer promise. Until these get into the hands of unbiased reviewers it's really hard to say what it's actual performance will be. I suspect it will be plenty good enough for most people who can raise themselves above brand loyalty.
Handling, I wouldn't expect it to work like a lighter car, because it's doubtless going to weight too much. And I also doubt it will handle it's weight as well as, say, BMWs do. OTOH, it's handling almost HAS to be better than the muscle cars it evokes. Again, have to see how it reviews in unbiased hands.
The price sets me back. I grew up during the muscle car era, love'em and love this design. But $40k? Ow. Can't say I love it all that much. There's a lot of other automotive options to look at for that kind of change.
So: I like the looks, am curious about the potential, leery of the price, and still awaiting unbiased reviews.

Looks pretty good, but as said before, it's a bit over priced and under performing. Looks more like competition for the Rustang seeing as it can barely click off a 5 second 0-60 run. I can see a 08 Vette running circles around this thing on a straight or curvey road.

Never underestimate the effect constant liberal induced self loathing on the American psyche. America is not 'behind the rest of the world' in education. There are a few small countries that do better at elementary and secondary levels, but no one does better at the tertiary (univeristy) level. Why do you think there are hundreds of thousands of visas issued to foreigners who pay top dollar to attend US colleges?

It seems like every one is going retro; Ford Mustang and the new Cheverolet Camaro. One thing the new Camaro has for it is being a hybrid (a muscle car with less pollution). The Challenger is really nice looking. It would be neater if there was a flex fuel (gas or ethanol) option.

I like it a lot. The main problem is that the steering and dash is not befitting of a 40K car. Best bet is to keep your eyes on the road because of the insane fishtailing and acceleration.
It looks pretty flat going thru the turns too. 60's-70's era muscle cars didn't handle very well, but in the 90's the suspensions got a lot better. Pulling 0.8-0.9 G's from the factory was not uncommon for American sports cars. I expect this car to pull at least 0.8 G. I want a test drive.
Anyone who has owned a car with 400lb-ft knows that 0-60 times are limited by traction. Launch technique is important too, in both the auto and manual. Or, you could just punch it and watch the speedo swing past 60 in about 1 second. The trouble is when the smoke clears you only moved about 3 feet. :P

It seems that many here are hard to please.
Along comes a car to get the blood pumping and everyone complains.
It looks too retro,
It uses too much gas,
It is too expensive,
The interior blows,
This car is not for everyone, granted. But for all the Nancy Boys who do not like the car, get back into your Kia's and stay there.

@Peanut:
You're right, freedom of speech sucks. We should all just say it looks great, handles awesome, gets great MPG, and has a 21st century dash board even though it doesn't.
Must be a MOPAR fanatic....

I love the Exterior, the engine is potent enough that it should be fine. The Seats look great and I think the Steeringwheel is ok, it would look better if the center were round but it's still ok. The plastic looks like it is soft touch, but it dosn't look good at all. The dash is not very nice either, all in all it sort of reminds me of a rubbermaid industrial trash bin. A cool interior would have put this car over the top, and made it really something to lust after, it's a shame that didn't happen here.

With it starting @ 40K, I'd say its about 10-12K too much.
With decent options and dealer price you probably couldn't pick one up for under 45K.
Also there is no manual option........
I'd rather wait for the new Camaro.

Holy crap! You can say what you want, but this car is going to sell. The look is great and it will certainly create excitement for Dodge in the show rooms. The price seems just about on target and the interior is nicely done. Me thinks Dodge has a winner on the horizon!

To those of you who didn't get the message, ALL THE 2008 MODLES SLOD OUT! That's right, all 08 Challengers have been sold. So stop complaining that they're expensive, heavy, slow, and lacking a 6 speed manual, you wont be aboul to buy one any way. Jest sit back and wate for the cheeper, lighter, faster, 09 modles that come with an opthinal 6 speed manual.
