VW is going to officially unveil the Scirocco next week at the Geneva Auto Show, but the embargo on the photos has already been broken.
Here are the first two photos of the all-new VW Scirocco:

The actual production version of the Scirocco has changed a little bit from the IROC Concept in which the Scirocco is based on. The front fascia is completely different from the concept with the missing metal grille surround and different headlights. Although the front end has strayed from the original concept, the rear fascia is much more inline.
Stay tuned for more photos and the official details next week.

Thats pretty amazing design. Would love to see that front end on a sedan.

Very un-VW'ish look. Too small rear windows.

I kind of liked the concept. The front end looks too plain now.
I don't like it and I don't mind it's not comming to the US.

Love the look of the concept. The production model I could do without, which is fine since it won't be hitting US soil.

It looks sweet, IMO. It's too bad that we won't get this generation...

I liked the concept more, which is good since we won't be getting it. If we did get it, I would hate VW even more since now they wouldn't just make crappy unreliable cars that I don't care about, they'd have a decent unreliable car that I could never justify buying.

Looks like a mix between an old Corrado and the new Audi A3. My boss keep sayin' it looks like an old hachtback civic. IMO I wouldn't say no to it, but it depend which engine they put in it. I'm getting tired of the 1.8T and the old VR6 could need a boost. What about a VR6T? Or a mix between the VR6 and the twincharged 1.4 could give a perfomance monster. Yeah, that would be nice, a turbo and supercharger VR6 running on a six speed transmission and outputting all this power on all the four wheels at the same time (did someone said Quattro?).

I'm getting a kick out of the haters. I've been a mechanic for twenty years now and I get more Toyotas and Chevys in my shop than I ever do VWs. If there were more VWs on the road I would be out of business.
The style of this one is very aggressive and modern. Very forward thinking. It's people like the haters that keep the good-looking models from coming to our U.S. shores. Yes, because we all want another Honda Civic and Toyota Camry bore-fests in our driveways.

The reason US don't get it IMHO because you like you cars of size of truck, pollute a lot, take lot of gas and act as a penis extension.

Totally agree with u there, the Hummer is the perfect example of that,
I like both the concept car and the production model, its different, and someone in a post above called it a mexico mobile, well only the city vw's are made south of the border the more expensive higher up are made in germany, and so will this one.

Agree it doesn't look very VW-ish. Regardless, with VW consistantly on the bottom of reliability surveys I'd give this an easy miss even if it did come over.

It may not be as attractive as the concept version, but you have to admit it still looks sportier than our USDM GTi.

I was really upset that VW decided not to bring over the new Scirocco, I loved the way the concept looked and would have considered it for my upcoming car purchase in 10~14 months at a guess.
Somehow the fact that they beat the crap out of the concept with the ugly stick before releasing it makes me feel a little better, it's like well we are not getting a sweet looking car like the concept, but Europe isn't either so there.

please!!!
This is a good looking vehicle. It may not look like a typical VW, but it's not supposed to. Stop comparing it to the prototype which never realistically existed.
Yeah it may look similar to a civic, but I guarantee it won't drive like one. It's German!!! It's a shame that VW doesn't have a car like this to help attract more American buyers.
And for all the idiots trying to slam VW's quality. I've driven them for years and they've never left me stranded. Most of the complaints are about power-window motors, trim pieces, or user caused maintanence problems, none of which I've had a problem with.
VW is the best selling car in the world for a reason!!!!!!

It looks alot better than the firs Sciroco. I think it is a definitely plus for VW but a minus for not bringing it to the USA.

@ Wordpainter:
I agree this Sciroco may look like a Civic but won't drive like one. My understanding is that one of the two is destined to be at the dealership for warranty work throughout its life. You figure out which I'm talking about (hint: check out any reliability survey...)

Who cares? VW can take all their cars out of the country. They haven't made a decent Vehicle since the 04 Overpriced R32, and nothing before that since the days of the Corrado and original Scirocco. VW can do us all a favor and just pull out like they discussed months back.

This car is probably the best looking VW ever made, but that isn't saying much. And what's with bashing the mexicans, don't they make better cars than the US built ones?

mexican built vws are one of the most unreliable cars as according to jd power. As well as vws are also built in eastern europe with similar quality problems. And just because its the best selling doenst mean its the best car. I dont care that youve driven for years and nothing has gone wrong some are built better then others but friends who work for vw wont drive them and thats saying something to me.

@gm0n3y
in my opinion the Phaeton was the best VW style and engeneering ever made, it is the platform that veedubbs sister company bently uses on its continental gt and flying spur. the phaeton could do nearly 190 mph (limited to 155) and still supply enough power to the a/c motor to keep you cool in 120 degree heat. just look at the mechanism used to hold the trunk open to see how much craftsmanship went into each one.

Since I've owned VW's, I've been to the dealership only to get my oil changed and cars serviced. I take care of my cars.
So the answer has to be. . . the Civic will be in the shop, since I've never had problems with my VW's.
Did that survey you got your "understanding" from mention that VWs have the highest customer loyalty of any other brand????? Or that their resale values hold up better than your dear old civics. Hmm... that must be some pretty nice junk VW's selling.

That sounds just like customers that are loyal to Apple. They keep coming back to pay more money for an inferior product. Some people never learn I guess (and they are continual marketing victims).
