Blue backlighting is horrible for night time driving. They should have chosen something between Amber and Red. I have some mixed feelings of the left side of the dash and wish the radial bars on the steering wheel didn't obstruct or nearly obstruct a portion of the guages, but otherwise its looking good.

To ctk, gilly, and brad:
Do you honestly think the people buying that car are doing so to look at the interior. Any real muscle car guy cares more about how fast it is and how comfortable the seats are. Not what the fucking dash is made of.
Quit your whining. I'm not saying I don't think the $40,000 price is too much for the Challenger. It is. But for reasons other than what the interior is made of.

I love the way the interior looks and the navigation system is a must for me. (I get lost too easily) Of course I wont be needing it on the track though.

im curious, aside from the door handle and the center console where are you seeing all this plastic. The plastic level in the car is about the same as my aunts acura so if your just saying that because its american your retarded

Actually, the interior isn't bad. The center console looks neat and I like the knobs for controls. The dash is a bit bland, and I would have preferred red backlighting, but it's not terrible. However, the thing that I'll have my hands on the most (steering wheel) is so hideous, that it would sway me away from buying this car.
Now, I know I can install an aftermarket piece, but c'mon! This is the new Camaro! If the steering wheel is designed like this, I must wonder what other part of this "muscle" car is ill-designed.

vlad.
And you can't pay me to drive a Honda.
brad.
Korean cars suck, they have plastic parts in the engine.

I wouldn't say it looks cheap, but it doesnt flow very well. Look at the newer vehicle dashed like Acuras or even Hyundai's with the flowing dash lines and controls. It's NOT just an american thing looking at the new Malibu its got a great interior look and flow. I just think they want to stick to some sort of "retro" look which I don't get. Its a 2008 model for christ sake make it look as such. That is my biggest critisism of the new mustangs interior too. Its like straight out of a concept or something not a polished final product. I don't think the materials look at that bad, and the seats are nice in the Challenger but that dash and center console need some work.

To my dear friend Dave:
...Spoken like a true member of the Dodge design team...
Because they sure as hell weren’t trying to win any accolades for distinctness...
Oh, here's an idea!!!!...Lets see how many Dodge, Chrysler, and Jeep interiors we can get to look the exact same- I love that game!!!!

By far the weakest part of the interior is the steering wheel. Nothing remotely sporty about it.

I think I saw that steering wheel on my 4 year old nephew's power wheels jeep. Words can't begin describe how horrible that steering wheel is.

The steering wheel is a joke...did they lift it from the Ram?
The seats are also very cheap looking (like every other Dodge).
The plastic level in the car is about the same as my aunts acura so if your just saying that because its american your retarded - unknown
And what year Acura is that?
Another thing is that the plastics that domestics use are the lowest quality available in a car for sale in the US, and probably every other "Western" country.
Go sit in a $40k SRT Charger or 300 and then go sit in a comparably priced Lexus IS or GS 350 and you'll know exactly what we non-hicks are talking about (and lets not forget the only reason the Charger/300 are "decent" for a domestic is because they use an older Mercedes E-class platform and associated components).

"I meen, do you ricers realy think WE give a damn about what YOU think."
He's not a ricer. Even so, the lowest level Japanese cars I've seen have nicer materials inside than the typical American car. I never really thought about it until I was in a new Chrysler a couple months ago. The plastics were the WORST I've ever seen in any car and the exposed runners for the front seats was just completely ridiculous for even a car in the 80's, let alone in 2008.

Man, people really are hating on the American cars on here arn't they. ALL american cars don't suck, people generalize too much. There are certainly cars from every manufacturer that suck. If dodge produced the yaris people would hate them for it...
The interior is the same as the other cars on the same platform, which is ok with me. It's very cheap... If it had a 6 speed it would make the interior much more palatable.
This car should be in the low 30's...
It's still on my top 10 list of car's I'd like to own. It looks sweet on the outside.

"This car should be in the low 30's..."
/agree
I like the car a lot for what it is. It looks like a very fun ride and I love how V8's sound at speed.
Personal Fix List:
1. The steering wheel is Fisher-Price. Get a Momo.
2. The seats are fine if they are firm and that cloth is grippy. If not, install Recaros. Hell, do it anyway.
3. Change the gauge lighting. Blue lights kill night vision. White numbers on black would do fine. Shift light.
4. The fuel door says "Fuel". lol. How about "Feed Me".
5. Is that real aluminum on the dash and console? If not, replace with dark carbon fiber. Plastic chrome is so cheap looking IMO.
6. Are the hoodscoops real? If not, make them. I have a thing about fake hoodscoops.

*sigh* Ok, may be you could answer this for me vlad, why must EVERYONE hate American cars? All so, even if American cars were (IN EVERY WAY) like Japanese imports, would you realy buy one?

Tommy Boy:
I'm not everyone - just one in many who have driven multiple domestic peices of plastic on wheels and have had the horrific experience of constantly dumping $$ into it to keep it running properly - "Build Ford Tough" my @$$ - I've been behind a Dogde, Ford, Chevrolet, - not ALL were mine personally but lets just say their owners like myself are now either hardcore European or Japanese. Give me quality, dependability, and of course style and I'll give ANY make a second chance. I dont care how much HP or torque that eye sore up there has, all i know is its value and dependability is gonna depreciate a lot quicker than a used beat up Civic leaving the lot.
