Honda is going to officially unveil the all-new Accord (TSX) for the European market at the upcoming Geneva Auto Show.
From these official teaser images it is obvious that the new model draws many cues from the current generation and the Accord Tourer Concept that was unveiled in Frankfurt last fall. In Europe the car will be powered by two gas engines, a 2.0L and 2.4L. The Accord will also be powered by a 2.2L diesel engine. In the US we are likely to see the 2.2L diesel and it is rumored that the next TSX will also get a version of the turbocharged engine in the RDX SUV. The TSX is likely to be the first diesel powered Honda in the US.

Still FWD....awww.
Honda should consider having at least one well priced rwd or awd sedan. The RL is just too exspenive, although nice.

A diesel Civic would be an excellent car for the US market. VW had one but it was pulled for emissions but will return. If some one else would build one and keep the price in the low $20,000 they would have control of the small car sector. Hey Ford, GM are you reading this?

Make it a turbo diesel so it has some torque, though.

It would be nice if the cars from Japan had flex fuel systems. It would make them more enviromental and yet be cool since they have some designs for autos.

@ Jason
If you click on the article ' more power for the smallest Acura ' you'll see they're supposedly making a 4wd TSX. But I agree, I'll never drive another FWD car, so I guess I won't be driving any current Acura. I don't want 4wd with 90% FW bias either. And I think the TL is beatiful, too bad...
@ Peter
I'm glad you and 4 other people want to drive a slow and small $23,000 car that gets 45mpg, but I, personally, would rather enjoy the cheapness of the gasoline engine for $15,000 that gets 35mpg.
Diesel engines cost too much, and with emissions regulations it's getting continually more expensive. The payback is far too long. I understand, and desire, diesel for big trucks, vans, and suv's but small cars is just silly.
anyways...
I'm hoping the TSX is a 4 door in the US and not a hatchback.

Why is it a hatch????
So pretty much this WON'T be how the TSX will look like. Just styling cues...

FWD ? i thaught acura where all going to get SH-AWD? get ready for a new batch of well made sedans that oversteer like a mofo.

Guys there will be a wagon and sedan version in Europe. The US will only get the sedan as the Acura TSX. It has also been rumored that the next TSX could get the SH-AWD. The TL is going to get the AWD system too.

Even though they share the same parts, just because the Euro's are getting a WAGON (not a hatch) doesn't mean the US will. Acura has said all it's cars will have AWD as an option, which again doesn't mean the Euro Honda Accord will have the same options.

@Cheap Car Lover
Its great that you want a gasser for 15k there are plenty to choose from.
It is not a 8000 dollar option More like 2k. The car does not have to be slow and small just because it has a diesel. BMW makes plenty of fast diesels that out run your 15k gassers.
It would just suck for people to have the option of buying a car that you're not interested in wouldn't it.

"BMW makes plenty of fast diesels that out run your 15k gassers."
I love the reaction of journalists when they went from driving the 120i to driving the 120d. After they cleaned their pants out, they realized there is no reason at all for BMW to even make the four cylinder gasoline versions of the 1 series since the diesels have more hp, way more torque, and about another 10-15 mpg.

Noah, I hope you're right. I hate the station wagon look. The current TSX look great and it would be a great daily driver, but I'm waiting to get a peek at the new TSX before I make a decision.

@ dennisil
You always mix up understeer and oversteer in all of your posts.
@ Small diesel car lovers.
BMW's option for a diesel costs 2,170 pounds in the 1 series in the UK. For the cheapest gas vs. the cheapest diesel. As of today's exchange rates that's a $4,265 difference. Also, in Europe they forgo particulate matter controls and the complicated urea injections systems needed in the US. If it were not for our emissions controls here in the US you could have a payback at some point, but as for now I'm not going to take a ~$6,000+ engine option to save on gas. The emissions controls also lower the efficiency of the vehicle in general (weight and parasitic drag), making the cost even higher in the US. In Europe they value fuel efficiency and in the US we value clean air.

Honda needs to release another big red R badge in the states. Until then, don't waste my time.

@mbw:
Unfortuntely we won't see any R's from Acura. They'll all be Type-S models, which are usually detuned R's....
Aside from that I agree 100%.

I acutally hope they would bring the wagon edition to the Acura line up. Both Mercedes and BMW make wagon editions of their cars here in the States. It would bring good competition in this lacking area.

No, in the US we value useless bureaucracy that results in inferior products for sale.

I agree bring the wagon back. Not everyone needs huge SUV's when a mid to full size wagon would do the trick. I bet a 7 passenger wagon with car like ground clearance would find a nice niche market right now in the United States.
With that being said the TSX is a nice car. But.a wagon version of it doesn't make a whole lot of since to me. Since it would only be a 5 passenger vehicle...

Put the 2.2L Diesel in the new Fit and sell it for $18 - 20k. The Fit with 138 HP, 250 lbs torque would be a lot more enjoyable than the current engine while improving efficiency by about 25%.
