Pontiac Announces Pricing for 2009 Vibe
All-New Version of Compact Crossover Starts Under $16k
DETROIT - Pontiac today confirmed pricing for the 2009 Vibe will start at $15,895 when it arrives in dealer showrooms in February 2008. Also returning to the Vibe family for the 2009 model year, an all-wheel drive model will start at $19,495 and the performance-oriented GT model will start at $19,895. All prices include a $585 destination and freight charge.
“Our goal with the new Vibe was to enhance its style and performance without sacrificing functionality and fuel economy,” said Craig Bierley, Pontiac marketing director. “Every Vibe model now comes with a bold new look, increased engine power and a host of standard safety features, but still gets up to 32 miles per gallon.”
The Vibe is powered by a 1.8-liter engine and five-speed manual transmission that can be upgraded to a 2.4-liter engine. Standard safety features include four-wheel disc brakes with ABS, StabiliTrak electronic stability control, six airbags and OnStar.
All-wheel drive and GT models come standard with the 158 hp 2.4-liter engine.

@Ozric
You can't see it in the close up of the gauges because of the angle of the shot. Look at the picture with the entire dashboard and it is visible on the left of the odometer.

I'm not much for hatchback/crossovers, especially Pontiacs, but this thing actually looks pretty good inside and out.
A+ for Pontiac on this one.

The Vibe has been a sales success for Pontiac and has consistantly been very reliable. The new model should continue the trend and I am glad that an optional engine is offered. Plus the starting price will cut into other compacts.

Ehem, A+ for Toyota. Glad to see the AWD and larger engine as an option, though. From the last column, it seemed that Toyota's Matrix wasn't going to have the larger engine/AWD combo, which would really suck.

It is not hard to sell reliable cars when you have Toyota build them for you.

The drivetrain may be a Toyota design, but I'm also 100% sure Toyota doesn't do the styling for Pontiac.

GM has been involved w/ Toyota and to a lesser extent Suzuki since the early nineties (NUMMI plant and Geo cars). I am fully aware that the drive train/platform is Toyota based. However, it has been a great sales success for Pontiac and brings people into the showroom. Now , Pontiac now has some reliable models of the own for comparison shopping.

Define "design," and then compare shots of the interior and exterior of both the new Vibe and Matrix. The dash layout didn't even change. The only thing Pontiac "designed" were the badges and headlights.

We have a Vibe Hatchback,,,,,,,,,2004. I cannot tell you how much this car has pleased us.....
We live on top of a bluff,,,,,,,,1/4 mile road to get here,,,,,,,,in the winter, we suffer from ice, snow etc. no problem with the Vibe.
It just crawls right up this hill.
S;pring time,,,very muddy,,,,,,same thing. We have lived here for over 30 years, and this is the very first car that can perform the way we want,,,,plus be excellent on gas.........so,,,,who needs anything else??? Our car is 4 years old, and this spring we will trade it for a brand new 2009 model.......we only have 29,000 miles on our car now, but will get a new one this spring.
