Last month Audi revealed the Metroproject Quattro Concept at the Tokyo Auto Show. The concept may provide hints of Audi's upcoming A1.
Now sources are stating that Audi is discussing the idea of bringing the small car to the US when it is released sometime in 2009. Compact and sub-compact cars are usually not viewed very highly in the US. But with rising gas prices and the overwhelming success of the MINI in the US has prompted automakers to think smaller.
Rupert Stadler, Audi’s CEO, stated "There is absolutely a potential for that kind of vehicle in America."
Let's hope they do decide to bring it here.

It's come to my intention that it is not in writing that the A1 will arrive on US shores.
In an era where a barrel of Oil is in the triple digits, I now recommend firing any executive who does not see the purpose in delivering this vehicle to US shores, and then replacing them with Inuit tribesmen. For although the Tribesmen willingly lives in a place just this side of hell, they still have more sense than those executives.
Due to added research and time, as per contract my fee is double that of normal. Please mail your first born to the previously disclosed account in the Caymens.
Thank You.
