2008 Chevy Malibu Review...Coming Soon

img_5636.jpg
This past weekend GM invited me out to Memphis to test the all-new Malibu against the Camry, Accord, and Altima.

Expect my full review and all the details about the new Chevy this week.

Let me know if there is anything that you want to know.

When will the 6spd auto be available with the 4cyl?
How do you compare it with the Accord in terms of ride, handling?

Second G's first question: ask GM when a 6 speed will be available for the 4 cylinder.

Also, how does that interior really look? In the pictures at GM's website the "brick" and ebony interior looks grand, does it really come up to par?

And by how much would you say this is just a rebadged Saturn Aura?

Allen:

And how does that engine compare against the Altima's 3.5?

Bill Owens:

What's the real world mileage? How well engineered is it? Is it a serious attempt to compete? When will they have a hybrid version? How does management justify their salaries? Will the car last 200,000 miles?
I wish them good luck and hope they have a fine product.

It would be fun to read a review of the Malibu which talk about real-world driving, and not something about how well it would perform as a F1. Is the suspension soft enough for our raods in Quebec province, for example, what about the performance of the Ecotec engine as a family car, is the car quiet enough to enjoy highway driving, does it carry 3 kids and 2 parents with confort for each of them...

I just did test drive of the Accord, Camry and G6 and Buick Lacrosse. And on our roads, I can say the Accord is absolutely not a soft riding car, but the Lacrosse is very enjoyable on the same roads... But where did I read it before? No where...

I am interested in your review. I have drive the Pontiac G6 (3.5 liter /4speed auto) and found it a competitive in the mid size market. However, the interior while nicely laid out, was a step down from Honda/Toyota.

I really like the styling on the new Malibu. Will you be able to test drive the hybrid model?. I would like a review of real world impressions on interior styling, ride and handling quality of the 4 cylinder model and how it compares to the Japanese rivals. Thanks in advance

You said the Accord was not a cushy car? Did you drive the coupe or sport edition?

My neighbor bought a 2008 Accord he picked up the minute they hit dealerships (he is also one of those Honda fans that still has his tuner 92 Honda Civic), and its nothing if not plush feeling. Bumps in the road are no problemo.
