BMW chose the Tokyo Auto Show to announce that a production version of the CS concept (4-door coupe) will become a reality.
The large sedan will most likely be dubbed as an 8-series when the car debuts at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show. The new 8-Series is going to go head to head with the Mercedes CLS, and upcoming Porsche Panamera. The CS Concept rides on the same platform as the 7-Series sedan although it is longer and wider.

Longer and wider? That makes this larger than both the Panamera and CLS, is that to big for anything with the word "sport" in its name? "Sports Coupe?"

So, to honor the amazing car that was the 8 series they're going to make some huge, bloated sedan and call it an 8? I really want to hit the people running BMW and Porsche these days.....

The 7-series is already large enough to classified as a sedan. How is BMW going to make a car based on the 7 series platform, though longer and wider, and call it a coupe?

Longer and wider than a 7 series? thats insane, but look at the picture it's a good looking car, the best looking new BMW I have seen in years. If they use light weight materials and put in a sweet engine it could be a very good car. I guess like everything it's just wait and see.
