The BMW 1-Series coupe is going to start right below $30K when it is released early next year and now according to Automotive News, the convertible is going to start in the low $40K range.

The convertible version of the 1-series coupe will be released next spring and will come in two versions that are identical to the coupe. That means there will be a 128i and 135i convertible. Both versions come with a retractable soft-top.

Steadler and Waldorff:

If there ever was a Gay-looking car, this is it. Ford and VW drivers, take note.

John:

^^^Wow your right, the convertible is exceedingly GAY, and for 40K, what a ripoff.

Noya:

It looks HORRID with the top up, beetle/hunchback'ish.

Low $40's STARTING? That's nearly the same as the 3-series!

I think a mid/end-of-lease takeover on a 135i coupe (3.0L TT/6-spd) sounds nice, though.

T:

It's a BMW! It must be good! NOT.. I can see female celebs driving this car... or rich ditzy girls driving this car with their chihuahua in their lap. I really nope no guys will be caught driving this thing... 40K is def a ripoff

zzz:

great, 40k for an econobox with a BMW badge

Darmok:

It's funny that removing the roof makes it actually look worse.

Allen:

"Look worse?" I actually thought the coupe looked good. But I do agree, the convertible looks (to me) like an old Chrysler Sebring Convertible. It absolutely lacks any taste or style.

Give me the coupe anyday, but forget the Convertible. I can see this being the fastest depreciating BMW out there.

gm0n3y:

You guys are correct, this car is ugly (and yes a little flaming). That being said, this should sell to women as they like these kind of cars (vw cabriolet, etc).

Travis:

It's not that ugly, it's not a drop dead looker, and it has it's flaws, but it's not terrible.

$40K I think that is a bit much.

wes:

Horrid. It really does resemble a Chrysler Sebring Conv. Wow....
