Transformers has managed to pull in over $700million worldwide since its release this summer, so it is no surprise that there is going to be a sequel.
Thanks to the LA Times we now know that the sequel will be released sometime in the Summer of 2009. Steven Spielberg and Michael Bay have both signed on to the project.
Also the Transformers DVD and HD-DVD are set to be released on October 16th, 2007. The two disc set is rumored to also include a prequel to the sequel.

NICE ! Now if I'd only upgraded to that 1080p projector instead of installing new cabinets...

That was the point of the first transformers movie....the original series was just an advertisement for hasbro toys. The movie is an advertisement for gm and hasbro. I Don't think that is going to change.

And what vehicle brand would you like to see? Honda?
And then all the Transformers can talk like wannabe ghetto white kids, wear gold chains around their necks, and talk about their robo-bitches. And when they're in car form they can roll around with 20" rims on a Civic frame, a fart pipe, a gay body kit, a 3' high wing, and 3000 watts worth of stereo equipment. Then Vin Deisel can pop up somewhere and say "I live my life one quarter mile at a time. Now which one of you robots is gay."
No, the movie should remain GM vehicles. One for consistencies sake and two because those are some awesome cars. Don't complain that your automaker of choice didn't pony up enough dough to secure its own vehicles in the movie.

Transformers ROCKS! OMG so what the cartoon/movie sells toys? The underlying story of Good v Evil in a Sci-Fi epic works the same way as Star Wars. And yes SW sold the heck outa toys too. Do people gripe about SW being a feature length toy commercial? Not really. Can't wait for the next transformers though. There are soooo many more characters that can be in Transformers 2. There are supposed to be some more bad guy cars (stuntacons) that would be good. And there are some good guy airplanes (aerial bots). So we will see.

The reason all the cars in Transformers are GM's is probably because they look really good. I do not know, but a Camry turning into a robot is not cool in any way, GM actually has interesting looking cars, unlike Honda and Toyota.

I'm not sure what your problem is with GM...maybe you just don't like America....and if you do then maybe you should start showing support of your American made products....I for one am proud that the cars in the movie are American made!!! And I must say that I agree completely with David's coments!!! What a way to put it!!!!
