It is being reported today that former World Rally Champion Colin McRae and his five year old son have both died in a helicopter crash earlier today.
McRae, his son and two other passengers all died today when the helicopter that McRae was piloting near his home in Strathclyde when the helicopter crashed into the ground. The helicopter burst into flames around 4pm UK time today.
In 1995 McRae became Britain's first World Rally champion. He achieved 25 wins in World Rally events. He even inspired the creation of one of the best-selling computer rally games.
My condolences go out to Colin McRae's family and friends.

That really sucks. Helicopters are much more difficult to fly than airplanes.

My hearts out to his family, I was just playing one of his rally games today actually. Major bummer, don't feel so good about passing him on the outside shoulder now.

*sigh* this is just so tragic, one of the few well known drivers in the US that drove in a real motor sport and not Nascar, has passed away, and his son as well, that just makes it even worse, I heard about this early yesterday but at that point there was no confirmation. Helicopters are not terrible difficult to fly, and by all accounts McRae was a reasonably skilled pilot and investigations are underway in regards to the crash, I wonder if it will be error or mechanical failure? It's sad either way.

My condolences to the McRae family. I never met you but I loved to watch Colin Race. I haven't felt this sad since Dale Earnhardt died a few years back. I know he's up there in race car heaven. Peace to your family and may God watch over you.
