Brabus has unveiled its new Bi-Turbo 720 horsepower Mercedes-Benz C-Class a day before it is officially unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
The new Bullit C-Class sedan features a 6.3L V12 that has 720 horsepower and 974 lb-ft. of torque. The torque is electronically limited to 811 lb-ft. to preserve the tires and gearbox. All of that power is delivered to the rear wheels via a modified five-speed automatic transmission. The uber fast C-Class is capable of doing 0-62mph in a mere 3.9 seconds! It also reaches 124 mph in 10.49 seconds and 186mph in 24.5 seconds.
In addition to the engine modifications the car also has a revised suspension and braking system to accommodate the power of the V12 engine.

perfect example how to build a useless car.
yada, yada, yada, the numbers are impressive...but that's all that car is:numbers. On track, on the road, that thing will just be a pain in the arse...

Former F1 2xWDC Mika Hakkinen drives a C class DTM with 476hp...and pardon me, but the DTM is MUCH more beautiful.
"2007 AMG-Mercedes DTM C-Class race car revealed
Mercedes this week took the wraps off a new DTM race car for the 2007 season, based on the new C-Class sedan. The previous model is regarded as one of the most successful DTM (Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters) cars of all time. The new iteration features an improved version of the race-oriented 4.0L V8, delivering 476 hp at 7500 rpm and 500Nm of torque."

720 hp in a C class? That's insane!

0-62mph in a mere 3.9 ?
Those numbers are still slow for a motorcycle..
How does it drive?
Call me wierd, but I will personally want a 800cc Smart Car.
Big numbers still make headlines.

Well, companies with money would rather build pointless cars like this than do something for the greater good...

All that power is going to be useless in a RWD. I'm tired of all these car manufacturers trying to impress the common folk with their big horsepower numbers. If you really want to impress me, design me a car that gets 60 miles per gallon and drives like my current 2.0Turbo sedan. Instead of wasting resources on useless cars, put those resources to good use by making a more fuel efficient while still putting a grin on your face every time you drive it car.

I believe this car is awesome! If I could afford one I'd buy it...
I don't whine about MPG because I simply just do not care, I buy something that I like (which obviously why would you reply to something that you guys are honestly not even remotely interested in?).
While you guys enjoy your 0-60 in 12.5 seconds at 60 MPG, I enjoy my 0-60 in 5.2 at 21 MPG :)
both makes "us" happy

I'm not sure I could even get it into my driveway.
At least the new Lambo let's you raise the nose to enter the parking lot.

"wasting resources" blah blah "irresponsible" blah blah.
Are you paying for it? Are they digging up your yard for the resources to build it? No? Then who cares.
"For the greater good", what kind of communist crap is that? Should we all have "standard cars" of "standard sizes" and kill anyone who deviates or makes something you don't like? I like choices, I don't want to be forced to drive the same car you do just because you think I should. Go move to Cuba or Europe if you believe that garbage.
That said, I'm not impressed. It probably weighs more than the biggest SUV as most Mercedes do.

Oh please chris stop joking.
Of course Brabus is not digging up his or mine yard. but as you maybe have noticed, we only have one planet we all share. and when Brabus is digging up south america, the southpole or whatever, we all have to have to live with the consequences. even you, too.
communist crap? lol! there are no communist countries in europe.
go read a book about world politics or the climate change.
thank you.

"Wasted Resources" "Greater Good" "Stupid"
Me and chris are the same here: why all the complaining?
Note that the C63 AMG is a EXTREMELY limited production car, and Brabus probably will not end up tuning more than a couple of these! I mean if this was to become standard equipment on cars, I'd be bitching too, but all in all the normal C-Class is a efficient car (for its class) and not to bad on both the enviroment or the gas bill.
I do disagree with Chris on one thing though, and that is that I myself am impressed. For one this is a C-Class chassis, which is not a heavy one like the S-Class above it. It does weigh more than his Cobra I'll bet, but I'd also bet it'd out run it in both a drag and on a track course. Then again for the $x00,000 that you'd pay for this, it'd better out run a Mustang.
What most impresses me are those numbers exactly. 124mph in 10.49 seconds... at those speeds, that means we can expect quarter mile times around that same speed. That itself is not impressive: I can take a 95 Civic coupe, remove the stereo, all but one seat, the AC unit, the interior panels, and do some engine tuning (nothing major even), bring the engine to mid 200 horsepower and get it to run ten second quarters.
Whats amazing is that this car will run that fast, AND still have all that weight (and more) in it! Sure I could be sweating, hear nothing but that engine, and have a car that I could not drive on the street. This car will take me down the track while listening to Bach, in a ventilated seat that also heats for those cold nights at the track, and wrap me in expensive sounding leather the whole time.
This is what we call the rich mans hot rod. And don't we all want the good life?

1. There really is no need to bach every performance exotic limited edition car based on poor MPG...
2. On other hand it is VERY GOOD that it is happening since it is a clear signal to the car companies that they suck and are seriously wrong if they think this useless game of constantly upping HP specs is still impressive.
Today efficient performance is the name of the game we consumers want.
I want electric motors or at least engines that can offer power on demand when needed but when not needed turn off cylinders and change regimes of working so that they are ultra efficient also.
If we can have PC processors that can do that, we also can expect car companies to do it. If not well enough on gas engines then even more, electric motors are the way to go.
They outperform the hell out of gas engines anyway.
So the message to makers is F.... off if you think this is what impresses us in 21st century. Sure go make a few of these as long if you get the real message. Efficient road performance for every day is what we want. And firstly and especially from premium brands.

Useless?!
You need to visit the European freeways and especially the German ones. They build their freeways for high speed and many stretches has no speed limit and once you tried commuting with 150 mph+ for an extended period of time you will understand the Brabus makes perfect sense.
If something automotive is useless is the US cars like Hummer and all the other soccer mom mobiles not to mention the trucks. Talk about 1960's technology stuffed with ugly plastic and used with no regards for the environment - heck the Brabus Merc is most likely bringing better mileage and pluting less even at full whack!

Can't afford either - but I much rather have a RS6 Quattro with mear 580 hp – as anybody that's driven even a relatively high power RWD car knows, this thing going to have serious problems putting down that power on a race track – never mind a road surface.
Oh to the prior poster, I would seriously doubt at full whack it would have better mpg than a hummer, 700 hp comes from somewhere! But I agree hummers are joke at best!

Modern drivetrains in the Hummers are pretty decent, actually, and the biggest Hummer they make today is an H2, with the H3 selling much more anyway. They're thinking about an H4 as well. They're going to put the new 4.5L diesel in the hummers as well as various trucks in the next few years. Plenty of power and decently efficient. They're not the Hummers of years gone by (which actually disappoints some, but you can't please em all).
The numbers are impressive, but what's the point of 974 lb-ft of torque if the rest of your drivetrain can't handle it, and you have to limit it to 811 lb-ft? Why not just limit it at certain points, ie when the wheels would spin endlessly? Integrate torque/engine limiting into the traction/stability control system, its been done before. Max torque when you can get away with it, less than max when you can't.
The numbers are still impressive, but its not likely something you're going to have people drag racing on the streets. I like big numbers in almost-affordable street/strip cars.

The body kit is a bit on the ugly side but I'm all for more power. It's a shame though that they'll probably charge four times as much for it as a "normal" C63 AMG... I can't help but think that a blower on the V8 engine would have been a lot cheaper and would have made just as much power (and yes, I know that's not really the point).

So it has 220hp and about 330 lb ft more than a Corvette Z06 but its still slower than one in both 0-60 and 0-100? Thats just pathetic.
And what good is having a certain amount of torque if you're never going to reach it since the car limits it? Effectively the car only has 811 lb ft regardless of what the motor is capable of.

@BZD
as a frequent driver on German autobahns and constantly at heighest speeds they realisticly allow, I can tell you that even hitting anything over 120 MPH is hard due to congestion and most of the time it is less than 100 MPH nowadays.
Not to mention that such a car is completely uncomfortable and you can have a much better and speedy experience in most production sport cars or sporty sedans. This is useless.
As are the Hummers and the rest of overgrown cars with still pathetic small interiors.

The "greater good" refers to things consisting of the medical, educational, or engineering field. You know, the greater good of man-kind.
hehe.. it's refreshing to see you guys reference that statement to communism rather than the accepted definition(read: "grown up" definition).

I think it is useless because normally mercedes get everything thats possible (in a common sense way) from its sport versions.
I bet it will handle much worst than the original one... it will probably be quicker in timing.. but.. i hell to drive (TVRs like, lot of performace, and no control)

I would love to see this car without the body armor.
Remove all the Brabus logos and put back all the MB logos.
Even though I think the speed and horsepower is overkill, it would really surprise another MB owner once I step on the gas!!!
(also, I want it in RED)
