VW has officially announced today that the automaker is going to end its current Bluetec relationship with Mercedes. Instead of badging their vehicles with the Bluetec labels, Volkswagen is going to return to the familiar TDI badging that the automaker has used in the past.
Although the cars will share engineering with the Mercedes vehicles, VW will not brand their vehicles Bluetec. German Magazine, Wirtshatswoche said that Bluetec is more associated with Mercedes-Benz and TDI has been used on diesel powered Volkswagens for years.
The first clean diesel to be sold by VW will be the 2008 Volkswagen Jetta. The car will be revealed this fall with production starting in early 2008. The diesel powered Jetta will be legal in all 50 states. It will be powered by a 2.0L 4-cylinder diesel engine that produces 140 hp and 235 lb-ft of torque. VW claims that the new engine will have better gas mileage and NVH than the old 1.9L diesel engine.

Companies should move far away from Mercedes-Benz because they really produce crap.
MB might have made some good cars in the past, but this new leadership has taken it from great to crap in a matter of years.
