More Spy Photos of the 2009 Dodge Challenger...These are the Best Yet!

challenger.fe.kgp.edcrop.jpg
We've seen many spy photos of the upcoming Dodge Challenger muscle car. Most of those photos were from guys with handy camera phones that didn't show that much detail. There new photos from the show more details of the car that others have missed.

These photos show closer detail of the front end of the car through the mesh camouflage. The details that we can make out look very close to the concept version, which is rare.

Now if only we could see what the interior is going to look like.

ET:

American cars s-u-c-k lastly. Americans don t have imagination, look like a piece of junk of the 70s.

Luke:

Looks cool to me. And looks imagantive. And deffinately looks different.

I'd Buy one in Australia if they would put the the Chrysler Charger badge on it like they did in the 70's. If they did sell this in Austalia they probably would put the Chrysler Charger badge on it as Dodge has just came out here and are failing misrebly.

SEALBoy:

I don't think the car looks too bad, but I don't particularly like it either. It seems TOO 70's for me, like the way the rear end is shaped as well as the front grill. As far as I'm concerned, the Mustang and new Camaro are ideal blends of past and present.

Niz:

Its like they wanted to do a retro style but didn't dare go all the way so they made the front more 'suitable for the average consumer' (read: bland) than it should be.

They should have just done it fully retro and been brave enough to do hard angles and loads of chrome, instead of wimping out by rounding the front off in a 'worst of the early 90's' style.

The fact that the design of the front looks like its from a whole different era than the rest of the car makes the whole thing appear awkward in a very unharmonious way.

Me:

If you just started using more efficient engines!!!
Maybe the rest of the world could stop paying your fuel inefficiency!

David:

To the guy above("Me"):

Based on your comment I'd say "you" refers to the US and that by you saying "the rest of the world" you don't live here.

So I counter with this. If "you" would step up in the world and actually grow a sack, maybe '"we" wouldn't have to do everything ourselves when it comes to keeping it safe.

And American V8 cars aren't the only ones that get poor fuel efficiency. High performance European models get terrible mileage. A Corvette Z06 performances on the level of many high end Porsches, Ferrari's, and Lamborghini's. But it gets far better mileage than them. Those cars get an average of 10-12 miles per gallon city and 18 highway. The Vette gets 16 and 26.

That cracked me up!

Jonathan:

Wow! That must have looked great 30 years ago!

Travis:

All I can say is wow at the comments, Feels like a bunch of 8 year olds are in this forum.

Anyways I personally really like the way this car looks, It's not on my short list, which currently reads Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X, now that I found out I may be getting a rather large pay increase from a new job. But I would consider this car, or the new Mustang, or the new Mazda 6, or an IS 350 as well.

Most car's are rather bland these days, this car will actually be something you can find in the parking lot. If the interior quality is decent, and the IRS actually allows it to handle compared to the cheaper Mustang, I could see it doing well. The 300 is selling so well for a reason you know. Personally I would like to see Chrysler make a come back.

Anyways when I buy my next car, I fully intend to do track days with it, so we will just have to wait to see what I actually end up with, the transaction is still a year away so I have plenty of time.

Vikas:

Awesome!! I always wanted to build a car similar to that.
Its reflects the phrase "American Dream" so beautifully.
Really awesome!!

rene:

No imagination and a total disregard for the environment.
Americans just dont get it. Now, 5 years after the retro Beatle, they have discovered retro.
Still think that a gallon costs 35 cents, i reckon.

Great.

Did you see the spy shots of the new AMC Pacer?

Travis:

Rene, where was I oh yes 8 year old children, grow up. It was nice to see VW discover Retro years after Ford did it with the Mustang in 1994.

If you compare say Chrysler's 300 C to it's Euro counterparts, like say the slightly more powerful E550 which gets 14/21 under the old EPA standards. Or the 750Li which gets 15/23. or how about the less powerful Japanese M45 that gets 16/21. Then the 340 hp / 390 ft lb 300C seems fine with 15/23, maybe slightly better than fine if you think about the fact that it costs a lots less.

Anyways you sound ridiculous pointing fingers at US auto makers for being disregarding the environment when you just ignore the fact that Both Japanese and European auto makers are just as bad if not much worse, would you like me to bring Bentley or Lamborghini into the discussion? How about the Veyron, yeah something that likely gets 25~26 mpg highway is really irresponsible compared to something that gets a reported 10 mpg on the highway, and as little as 3 mpg reported by some people driving it.

America's Tesla Motor's really has it out for the environment as well, you should watch out for them.

American:

It's like I've always said. Everyone hates America but they sure do like our money. I wish our government would grow a set and lock down the borders, quit giving away MY money trying to buy fair weather friends and stop importing goods from everyone with the exception of a few true allies.

As much as everyone wants to talk about how bad America is you guys need us A WHOLE LOT MORE than we need you!!!!!

I'd be fine with American Muscle Cars, American Oil, American Food and Amerian Electronics.

Tommy Boy:

Wow, that says it all.
