2008 Maserati Quattroporte Sport GT-S Revealed

Maserati has taken the wraps off the Quattroporte Sport GT-S sedan that will be officially unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month. The GT-S builds on the Sport GT package with better handling and looks.

The GT-S is powered by the same 400 HP 4.2L V8 as the Sport GT, but it has been lowered by 10mm in the front and 25mm in the back. The car also has new brakes that were co-developed with Brembo. The brakes are made of aluminum and iron, a first for a road car.

The Maserati Quattroporte Sport GT-S is differentiated by a black-chrome mesh grille, black side window trims, two double exhaust pipes and dark chrome 20" seven spoke alloy wheels.

im not a fan of european cars, but ive always had a sweet spot for these. nice sound when they ride next to me on the road, always clean, nice curves. cant say id ever own one(neither can nor wish to), but, they're classy.

Allen:

Beautiful looking car, I wish that V8 could do a little more but then again, at least they did not increase weight and displacement.

Allen:

Beautiful looking car, I wish that V8 could do a little more but then again, its nearly as powerful as the 4.2L in a Jaguar XF, and its a naturally aspirated engine with higher red line. And you know its going to ride smooth.

Sphere:

Doesn't this have a Ferrari (engineered?) engine? I've heard the weigh distribution is also perfect. I'd buy it for the looks alone, but the Ferrari engine is definitely a plus. Its like having 150koff a 265k Scaglietti...a bargain! lol

Beautiful car indeed. The coupe is much better than the Aston Martin Vantage, IMHO.

While I'm sure that these "improvements" are great and all, where's the extra power? At 400hp this car is well behind its competition. I'm honestly surprised that they didn't wring at least an extra 20 or 30 HP out of it...

Allen:

Woah woah woah woah woah woah, woah, woah.... woah. You did not just compare an Aston Martin to a Maserati did you?

Oh its on now ("Where the Hood At" by DMX plays in the background)

Yes, it's based on the F430 engine. And yes, the balance is perfect due to the transmission mounted at the rear of the car and the engine behind the fron axel line- kind of a mid-front engine.

Joe:

Thomas Aquinas said that lust is a sin. So what in the hell does some long dead Italian priest know about anything.

Call this American Italian a SINNER, I lust for a Maserati!

Sphere:

Why not compare it to the AM Vantage, which is at the same price point (130k).

I take it you're British?

And who the f* is DMX?

Enz0:

HAHAHAH sphere... you just made a fool of youreself... no offence. Poor poor DMX :)))

Anyway the car looks great, maseratti style, and if the engine is developped by ferrari then it will sound great with maseratti tuned exhausts. can hardly wait to see that car on Top Gear show on track driven by Stig. :D

To Sphere:

This car does look nice but dude if an Aston drove by at the same time (especially a Vanquish or a DBS) no one would even notice this thing.

Killerliz:

Slot in the V12 from the 599GTB into the Quattroporte engine bay and ... ...

Lovely car. Im not so sure if you wouldnt notice this one besides a Aston Martin. I think both are really nice, but I like this one better. Italian over british ANY time.

Cheers, Kamel
