Ford has announced that the automaker is finally going to bring a new small car to the US that will be smaller than the Ford Focus. The next Ford Fiesta is going to share its platform with the recently introduced Mazda2.

The Verve concept is going to debut next month at the Frankfurt Auto Show. Ford claims that the concept is a "significant hint" at the final design of Ford's new small car that will be sold in North America, Europe and Asia.

The next Fiesta will hit showrooms in Europe at the end of next year and should arrive in North America and Asia between 2008 and 2010.

CS:

This is one of the sweetest Fords I've seen in awhile. It should be a great commuter car. I've driven the current Fiesta over in Germany and it was a nice little car. Ford even has a car smaller than this called the Ka. As much as people dis Ford, I've owned several Ford cars over my life and never had a single problem from any of them.

Hunter:

I have to agree, this is a really nice looking Ford, and yea some fords will never give you problems, i havnt had any, buy some of my friends have, it really just depends on your driving.

Hunter:

sry about the 3 post, my internet was acting up at the time

Eddie:

looks nice, very Peugeot-ish. I'll be interested to see how this fares against the almighty Fit, Yaris, and Versa

oj:

wow this looks great now all ford has to do is takeaway frameless windows cool tailights peuget lights and huge air intake and they have another quality if not bland model because of course no ford could look this good this is just concept

Gary:

Hands down better looks than the Yaris, Versa, Aveo, or Fit (upcoming or current). Ford should release it just like this and sell tons of em. Offer a 2.0 Turbo option to compete with the likes of the GTI and SI at the same time.

Biil Owens:

I like the size and the way it looks. If more people would drive cars like that we wouldn't have to invade foreign nation's to steal their oil.

rene:

nice, very nice.
Maybe a bit more family resemblance with Focus/Modeo (headlight treatment) would take the blandness away.

Rob:

grate they are bring that underpowered crap from the UK

Alex Greene:

This is to good to be Ford...

Brian:

Blah, another hatch.

hoohah:

Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure the final American version will be a lot blander that the concept.... I will be absolutely shocked if the Fiesta/Focus looks anything like this in 2009

Sphere:

Nissan could put a car like this to sell. The Murano/Infiniti FX do still look like concept cars/prototypes. They are unlike anything else on the road.

Ford will never put nothing like that on the road. Mazda maybe. Not Ford. The wheels/tyre, the grille will get much smaller. The cool glass top will disappear. They will put a duratec engine on it.

End of story.

Peanut:

I like it. I hope they make a sports version with some grunt.
Like others have said, they will probably take away most of the good features for a production version.

Jim:

Dream now because when this car goes into production, it'll probably end up as a nightmare.

This is what the real Fiesta will look like: http://www.autobloggreen.com/2007/04/29/mazda2-coming-to-america-as-ford-fiesta-in-2009/

Scott:

That chick is really hot. more of her please.

The car is pretty cool too...

Donald:

The car looks amazing, styling, colour, etc. All it needs are some good engine options and it'd a be a for sure winner

Although even with less than desireable engine options it'd still sell on style alone
