More Spy Photos of the 2010 Porsche Panamera...We Get a Closer Look at the Rear End...Still Ugly?

spy_shots_porsche_panamera_spoilercrop.jpg
Spy photographers have caught more photos of the upcoming 2010 Porsche Panamera sedan. Previous spy photos had a significant amount of camouflage on the rear end, now a prototype has been caught without the huge camouflage. These photos reveal that the rear spoiler on the Panamera will be a pop-up spoiler.

The new Panamera will share many mechanicals with the Cayenne SUV, which is also due for a redesign in 2010.

Too bad these photos still don't show a "pretty" car.

Ferry must be spinning in his grave. Front-engine, water-cooled... trucks. Just like Damlier Benz. Albeit, FAST trucks.

Gary:

That has to be the ugliest car I have seen in a while, which is a shame coming from Porsche

Klaus:

thats not the final design.. trust me im working for porsche....

Like wtf are guys complaining about man, u are all acting like u know that much about cars. If u did u wouldnt be responding to threads like these but u would be working for some car manufactiring company doing the designs.

STFU and let the man finish his work and then judge what he designed.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I think it is very nice.

Larry:

That's a pretty bad design. And even if it's not the final look of the car, it's close enough. Porsche needs to stay away from the sedan market and focus only on their coupes. I don't think this thing will be anywhere close to BMW or Mercedes sedans. It'll be way over priced for a sport sedan/Porsche for 4. If it does well, I'll be shocked.

kw:

To tell the truth, I don't think it's as bad as people are making it out to be.

I think the real problem is that when I think I want a Porsche, this is NOT what I have in mind. It doesn't matter what they make it look like, to a certain extent, because it's still a 4 seat, 4 door sedan. When I want a Porsche I'm not looking for 4 doors, and I'm not looking for 4 seats.

Nor am I looking for boulder passing ground clearance, which was my problem with the Cayanne.

If Porsche wants to pull me into a 4 seat, 4 door design, they need to make it look like something other than every other existing 4 seat, 4 door sedan. This Panamera? Not distinctive enough. It looks too comfortable, like passengers will be pouring champagne during the drive.

No. I want those passengers clinging on for dear life. Screw the champagne. With a Porsche the champagne should be reserved for when the driving, regretfully, is over with for the day.

Allen:

I hope Klaus is right.... about it not being the final design, if he worked for Porsche his job would technically be a better one than mine!

Anyway, I do agree, basing a car on a Utility? Thats, backwards in every version of the word.

Gary:

Final design or not, unless the entire rear half of the car is changed, I'll still think it's ugly.

You can't just take a sexy 2 door car and stretch it out to make a 4 door, the look just doesn't flow anymore. Porsche is supposed to be a car to dream about not gag after seeing.

gm0n3y:

@TomLeeM,

I think you mean that beauty is in the eye of the beer-holder.

Fox:

hmm... actually the Panamera doesn't look that bad. it looks fine. fine as in plain fine. that is the problem... the front end looks like it came off modified from some Ferrari or something.. .the rear end is okay... but the small flap looks a tad... understated. the car just doesn't have enough of a Porche feel and look to it. it looks just like a current Porche or Ferari would look if anyone adds 2 more doors to them.

Come on Porche... make it more unique besides the fact that it has 4 doors instead of 2. make it look like a speedmonster that a Porche should look like. After all, people buy Porche for the looks and the speed. the addition of 2 doors is simply to make it more practical for the family man right? why dilute the other experiences?
