gtr_interior.jpg
A few weeks ago, spy photos of Nissan's new 2008 Skyline GT-R surfaced after the car appeared at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK. Autocar has posted some spy photos of the interior that were also taken at the festival.

From the photos it is obvious that the interior was primarily designed with the driver in mind.

Peanut:

I really love the interior of this car.
It has a steering wheel, gauges to tell you how fast you are going, and the rpm of the motor.

buddy:

When will Nissan learn, steering whells go on the LEFT side of the car.

John:

@ Buddy

Nissan has learned, this time around they are going to release a left sided GTR in the USA.

Glenn@Sydney:

It's on the correct side for Japan (and UK/Australia as well).

One thing I'll say about all the Japanese manufacturers is that when they do conversions from right to left, they generally think about the correct placement of things like indicator stalks.

The Europeans and US manfactured vehicles when converting from left to right, don't have the same considerations.

Everytime I drive a US or European car, I have to remember that the indicator is on the left side. I can't indicate and change gears at the same time.

The Japanese think ahead.

Noya:

Is that a true dual-clutch type gearbox or some sort of CVT or auto? How many gears?

What is the expected lifepspan of a DSG type gearbox assuming it's not tore up on the track, just as an everyday driver for a 40-year old man?

J.D.:

So will this be a tank like the G37? Or do non-American models not get 500+ lbs ballast to protect the driver?

gm0n3y:

I love this car. I can't wait until it comes out and is about 5 years old so I can buy one used (assuming somebody will actually be willing to sell this beauty).

@ J.D.

I also hope that it will not be too heavy. Safety is all fine and good, as long as it doesn't get in the way of performance.

I like this car, I love it because I like the design and I think it is one of the best racing cars that I have ever seen.
