Spy photos of the next generation 2009 Mazda6 have surfaced in the recent weeks. World Car Fans has posted a photo rendering of what the next Mazda6 may look like when it is finally revealed.
The next Mazda6, which is based on the Ford Mondeo platform, is expected to grow slightly in size. A 4-cylinder with about 180 horsepower and Ford's new 3.5L V6 with about 250 horsepower are expected. A hybrid and a high performance model are also expected.
Initially the sedan version of the new Mazda6 will be the only version offered, since Mazda has already announced that the wagon version will not return.

Alright, who was it in the thread about the 20 worst vehicles for safety that said Mazda was a foreign company?!? Ford platform - Ford Engine too, sounds pretty "American" to me....

I seriously doubt that's what the next Mazda6 will look like. It has almost nothing in common with the previous models and looks too much like a Saturn/Camry mix up.

@jon
Ford platform doesn't mean its American. The Mondeo is designed is Europe so I don't know where you are getting Amercican from.
They could still make an ulitmate MPS or as youse call it MazdaSpeed version with the twin turbo 3.5L. Now that will be a beast. 400HP of mayham. Would be the fastest car Mazda have ever made for the road.
And note: Those digital artist impression are usually way off so i'm not relying on them.

If you watch Conan O'Brien's "if they mated" this current car looks like a hybrid of a Benz and current Accord. I hope for Mazda's sake the actual car is better

Fords suck, my old man used to drive a aerostar van and that thing was a hunk of junk.

The Mazda 6 came out in 2003, some of the cars everyone is saying the new car looks like, actually look like they lifted some styling cues from the first generation Mazda 6, which sold pretty well and is often thought of as a pretty good looking car.
Having said that i doubt this is what the car is going to look like, the front maybe about right, I can see some of the Hakaze and Nagare concepts in the headlights and grille, though it's obviously toned down, It's the rear end that I doubt, the rear and side profile look a little too much like a Solara.
