Spy photos of Lincoln's upcoming MKS sedan have been circulating for months. Recently we got our first glimpse of the interior of the upcoming sedan. Now KGP spy photographers have caught some photos of a prototype with its engine exposed. Unfortunately from these photos it looks like the standard engine will be the 3.5L V6 that is in the Ford Taurus, Edge and Lincoln MKZ and not the new TwinForce V6.
The new 3.5L V6 may not be the appropriate engine for the flagship sedan if it expects to compete against BMW and Lexus. The engine is going to be a bit underpowered due to the extra curb weight.
It is rumored that the 3.5L V6 with the TwinForce technology will have V8-like power with approximately 400 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque. It is debatable if buyers will ignore the fact that there is not a V8 option.
It is expected that the production MKS will be unveiled at the 2008 NAIAS next January.

Please keep in mind that these "test mules" do NOT represent final product...this one with the standard 3.5 V6 could have been built to test something that does not require the "twinforce".
As long as the power is there, people, for the most part, don't care how many cylinders it has.

That's good go for a V6 and probably decent fuel economy, but it's not a V8, something buyers tend to want in this class, especially considering the much less expensive Chrysler 300C has a V8.
Did you not read those statements?
In the $20-32k performance market most people don't care if you have a 2.0L turbo, a 3.5L V6, or a 4.6L V8. But when upper middle class people are dropping $45k+ on a flagship luxury car, they want a large displacement engine for the effortless low end torque- especially Lincoln sucke...I mean buyers.
How much is this hunk of junk going to be? With the author stating that the 300C is much cheaper.
That interior is attrocious. Ford needs to stop with the retro gauges- buyers are getting younger and younger and the retro BS is a fad to them. Oh my god, look at the horrendous steering wheel ! The buttons look like they're right off a first generation VCR !

I'm not so sure it's retro as much as it is just bad design. It doesn't look like any old car to me.
If they were to do retro, you'd think it would be suicide doors. Those were cool.

Well, the NOBLE M15 does a great job getting 400+ HP with a Ford Duratec 30 engine, and it's only got 3L of displacement.......if Lincoln wanted to, they could easily push close to 500 horses with a supercharged Duratec 35....those engines are INDESTRUCTIBLE!!!
