Spy photographers have caught fresh photos of the 2009 BMW X6 during hot weather testing in California. The vehicle is heavily camouflaged, but thanks to the testers we're able to see the actual shape of the rear end.
While testing the vehicle, the testers accidentally left the rear hatch open, which exposed the true slope of the X6's backlight. We can now see where the camouflage ends and the actual bodywork begins. There are also some shots of the back seat of the SUV.
This form over function SUV should be an interesting addition to the BMW lineup.

I believe it is called a hatchback :)
All SUVs should be banned for regular day to day use. I am not an eco freak but car companies are not helping the environment.
Investments in local transportation and stricter laws for ration driving would benefit all of us.
This BMW BTW looks like a peice of crap.

Then we should ban every car, including yours. Because someone out there, there is someone that hates your car just as much as you hate SUVs.
Ban ban ban ban ban, thats always the answer for everything isn't it? No thanks, leave the government out of my life.

Andrew, what is wrong with you? Does it make you feel better, more powerful, more important? Get a clue and don't be a drone. Try thinking for yourself. This mentality has no end or limits. It also has no place in a free socity.

Normally I love the style of BMWs. There car designs just seem to flow and I love the fact there is hardly a gap between the fender and the tire. But his SUV is just plain ugly. It's hard to believe the Germans let this design go out the door. It looks like something Mitsubishi might come up with. If I'm going to buy a BMW I will buy one of their cars. If I want an SUV, I'll buy a Toyota or Subaru. I just hate the fact companies like BMW and Porshe think they need SUVs to stay afloat.

I'm with Clayton, except that if I buy an SUV (which I won't because I think they're ridiculous for normal people to own and I'd have no use for one), I'd get a Land Rover.
"I just hate the fact companies like BMW and Porshe think they need SUVs to stay afloat."
I don't think they see it that way at all. I think it's just the people in charge are more concerned with trying to gain as much money as possible through selling SUV's to the moronic masses than they are with the integrity of their brand.

Jonathan:
Personally i think they do need to design smaller public buses. The ones in DC are big and biggest. they take two lanes when they stop....
To everyone else, SUVs aren't bad, just over used and sold. People complain that small cars are too dangerous. They aren't if everyone would drive one for day to day driving.

Helicopters are pretty big and smoggy too. Lets ban them from air lifting patients to hospitals ! save the environment!
Let's ban semi trucks too because they are way bigger. And only carry a few people. That way you can pay 8 million dollars for your porn magazines to be shipped to your house! In your mom's prius.
Trucks are bad too because they have a bed in the back and they are big.
Freaking Geniuses! you dont have to be an eco freak you're just a communist !

Andrew and Jonathon,
GM makes Hybrid buses, the perfect vehicle (next to Trains, which GM has been building for 60 some odd years) to make Hybrid. Though, smaller Hybrid Buses for routes that don't fill up makes sense too.
Automakers make what people want. When they don't they lose market share (i.e. GM, Ford, Chrysler, Mitsubishi, Nissan (It's been a while, but they did), VW (a couple times in the US).
They rationalize just like every other business does. What gets me is when a company suggests in their advertising that they do something different... even "independent", then they do exactly what everyone else does. Which I think speaks to some of your concerns.
The point is that Manufacturers don't make these "bad" decisions in a vacuum. Remy's "Morons" make them in concert with Dealers and the Manufacturers.
Oh, and banning is for books and ideas, crushing is for cars.

AMERICA is the best because we don't ban anything!!! we're free (and number one) and I won't take any bans lying down. You want to protect children by compelling the use of seatbelts or enforcing standards on kid's pyjama fabric so that they won't explode into a ball of flames??? AMERICA is not for you. If I want to sentence future generations to a toxic waste dump of an environment then what business is it of you or your grandkids??? SCREW YOU america haters - if I want to flush your kids' futures into the toilet by driving my SUV (because I feel like it) then that's my business. Future be damned!!!!!!!!!!!
GO USA.

Uh, Mr. America, I live in Washington state where seatbelt use is law and you get a $101.00 ticket if you're caught not wearing your seatbelt. As for children? There was just a recall of toys with magnets, toys with enough lead paint to poison maybe *maybe* an ant and I've also seen fabric recalls (for example, many fabric lunch boxes).
As for SUV use...a lot of these vehicles use the same engines that are found in some cars. And as for that...a W-12 Bentley GTC...that's *real* fuel efficient but when is someone going to shed a few tears over things like that? It's always SUVs, SUVs, SUVs, cry, cry, cry, cry. When will that translate to say...anything over four cylinders?
I think one of the reasons SUVs aren't "banned" is because there are a lot of similar engines in all segments of the market.
So, for Mr. Sarcastic, ahem, I mean America is the Best, I say we toss it all but Acura Integras (non-tuned for the intense 5 mph performance requirements presented by rush-hour traffic, naturally) like I have. Score.
And, uh, yeah, GO USA and stuff.
