The pricing for the 2008 Subaru Impreza has been leaked on the web courtesy of a dealer. The base 2008 Impreza with the 2.5L boxer-four will retail for $16,995, which is $1,000 less expensive than the 2007 model. The WRX model will start at $24,350 which is $645 less than the old model.

The WRX five-door hatchback will retail for $24,850. The most expensive model, at least until the STi is released, is the five-door with Satellite Radio and the Navigation package which retails for $28,950.

The Outback Sport version of the hatchback will start at $19,995.

This is good news for anyone that may be waiting for the new Impreza to come out. The lower price may also help win those people back that don't like the new design as well.

We had a 5door WRX here in the courtyard of our building (the co I work for was reviewing it) this morning. It is simply stunning. The way the hood scoop was molded into the hood - pictures don't do it justice. and it just exudes sportiness.

Travis:

This is good news for Subaru, I am seriously interested in either the Ralliart Lancer (if it really is AWD and 220~240 hp) And the Base WRX. I am not that concerned with looks, so my decision will be based on, Driver side leg room, performance, fuel economy, the availability of a DSG style transmission (Mitsubishi), practicality (hatchback gets bonus points here) and cost. Right now the DSG is looming large in my decision because traffic around Seattle is terrible, some of the worst I have ever seen, and I have driven in Chicago, New York City, and Southern California. 10 miles of stop and go with hills everywhere and speeds that never go past 30 mph and average about 10 mph, on the freeway up here REALLY takes the fun of a stick, and makes it a pain.

I've got no problems with cars getting cheaper. :)

I have no problem with price reductions either but I wish manufacturers would stop ripping off Canadians and simply consider Canada as part of a single North American market with all list prices set in U.S. dollars and identical to the U.S. MSRP.

Too bad the new Impreza is disgusting looking

Alex Greene:

I agree as far as Canadian prices go. This is simply a ripoff. They jacked up the prices when the Canadian dollar was low, but they won't pass their current savings onto Canadian consumers. We here in Canada should make up a big stink out of it every chance we get. Like here. At Torque Report. :)

Luke:

Yeah Alex that is happening here in Australia to. We can now buy 87US cents for $1 here but prices never conme down. We pay 1.5 to 3 times more for our cars which is rediclous. The old WRX here was 39990 plus on roads and takes it up to like $44000.

Now they want to start the new rex here at 40990 plus on roads. WrX's here were 39990 when our dollar was lke buying 50cents US about 5-6 years ago.
