Honda Civics are the most popular new and used cars among teenage drivers according to a national survey conducted by the Quality Planning Corporation (QPC). The survey concludes that the Civic is the most popular new car, while the most popular used car is a seven-year-old Civic.

The QPC helps insurance companies verify policy holder info. Their survey looked at cars that were primarily driven by teenagers and not necessarily who owned them.
Large SUVS, that were once a popular choice because parents thought they were safer, are no longer popular mainly due to the high gas prices. There is also growing awareness to the fact that larger vehicles handle worse than their smaller counterparts, thereby making them more dangerous for inexperienced drivers.
Sports cars are also missing from the list, which is mainly due to the fact that they are higher to insure.

Is this list from the midwest?
Even when I was a senior in high school 6 years ago only the hicks and very poor kids had domestics.

Import snobs like /\ think their experience speaks for everyone. My first car was a domestic. I wouldn't consider myself a hick and I most certainly was not "very poor."
In fact my domestic was a much better vehicle than some of my friends imports.

My first car was/is a 1990 honda crx. It still runs like a top even though I treat the throttle like a light switch.

My first car was a Chevy Vega and it rusted to dust in 5 years and ran like crap the entire time I owned it. Maybe that's one reason why people don't like domestics - once bitten, twice shy.

My first car was a 1999 Ford Explorer Limited. Yes it had some electronic malfunctions however, the engine was well you could say... "BUILT FORD TOUGH". It has never broken down and the way I take care of it I see it out lasting my friend girlfriends Honda Civic of about the same model year. I am well off financially. I'm far from a "hick" or "very poor". I stayed with Ford because my parents had a variety of cars from a Fords to a Nissan to a Toyota as I grew up and they "stuck" with Ford. (A Few instances: My dad had a Nissan pick-up and 2 years in it died. My mom's Camry lasted about 5 years before major work had to be done. Then in 1999 they purchased a new Ford Explorer and then 3 years ago they turned it over to me. I have well over 170K on it and I still have yet to have ANY mechanical malfunctions with it.

Not sure why people argue about their opinions. Whatever you experience was. tends to sway your next decision and makes you bias. Someone will always say X car company car died on me in 1 week while x car company is running after 1 million miles. It's whatever circumstance you were in.
P.S. Surveys are dumb and only spark internet drama.
