Last year Renault-Nissan was in talks with General Motors about a possible alliance between the automakers. But unfortunately the talks ended when neither side could come to an agreement on the price of the relationship. Now fast forward to 2007 and Renault-Nissan is reportedly looking for a relationship with either Ford or Chrysler.
Carlos Ghosn met with the French Newspaper Le Parisien where he mentioned that a future relationship with Chrysler or Ford could be possible. The automaker is very interested in expanding, once Nissan gets back on track. Nissan has been experiencing negative growth lately.

The last time Renault had anything to do with an American Car Company, They killed it. They were DIRECTLY responsible for the death of AMC. Do you want that to happen to Chrysler?

Please Nissan, stay away from all American car companies. You make the best vehicles in your class (including Infiniti) and any cooperation with American companies can only hurt.

Sorry but Renault is not responsible for the death of AMC but it is the brand of AMC sales of which were in free-fall which caused problem, even if Renault also had problems. In fact, in this time, AMC had just sold cars Renault in our country.

AMC and Renault had an alliance to sell Jeeps in Europe and Africa and Renalut powered AMC Encores and Alliances in America. The cars were produced in Kenosa Wiconsin while AMC bult a State of the art facility in Windsor Cananda were they start ed to produce the larger Eagles and mid sized Renault type vechicles. Chrysler bought them out and desolcved the alliance with Renault and also stopped making the Jeep pickups that conflicted with their own lineup. Chrysler wanted the new Winsor plant and the Jeeps. Up until the Jeep Liberty came out the Cherokee was still was powered by a variation of the rambler 7 main bearing straight six- one of the best and longest lasting motors ever produced.
