Honda's revised 2009 Ridgeline pickup has been caught by spy photographers. The new truck will feature a modified front end that may also be close to what the next Pilot will look like.
From these photos it looks like the rear end will stay the same as the current model, although that could change as we get closer to the release date.
One of the main complaints about the current Ridgeline is the fact that it becomes slightly underpowered when it is towing. It is not known if Honda has any plans to upgrade the current V6 in the Ridgeline. Although it is rumored that Honda is working on a diesel powertrain and possibly a hybrid for the truck. Release dates for those versions are not known.
The second generation Ridgeline is expected in 2011.

It's still hideous. I like Hondas and I like trucks, but not this thing. Get rid of the sloped bed rails, smooth out the door panels, drop a diesel that gets 30 mpg in this thing and I'll buy one.

A new look to any degree should help.

Agree with DaMinority, the looks improvement will be enough for most. But i too want a power increase out of that engine. Little better technology and such, and they should be able to increase the power a good 30hp. That'd be enough. Torque is of course the main concern, but really, quite enough of that is had for accelerating from stop, thanks to the AWD system. Its mainly 40 mph to 60 mph that bugs me in the current Ridgeline. Little more hp=little less 40 to 60 time.
As for a diesel, bring it on!

I agree with tgom. Although I'm a die-hard Chevy and Ford truck fan, I admire Honda engineering and look forward to what they're going to do with diesel powerplants. However, great MPG does not complete the equation. The Ridgeline would have to undergo some serious cosmetic surgery before I'd ever consider buying one.

Ditto to all the comments above. I'm an avid Honda fan but I'm finding it hard to bite the bullet on the Ridgeline even though I'm in desperate need of a new truck right now. The Ridgeline looks almost as ugly as the Avalanche (althought I must say that the new Avalanche looks much better now), doesn't have the get up and go juice it needs, and doesn't get the gas mileage I'm looking for. I don't have the need for the big truck hauling power so I'm ok with the hp and towing capacity. My beef is that, if I'm going to give up the hp, I want the gas mileage which it really doesn't offer. If they changed up the back half of the truck, gave me a deisel or hybrid option, I'd buy it today. I guess I'll have to wait or look elsewhere.

The style does not bug me as much as the low gas mileage. The wings across my right shoulder when I look to lane change is a little bit of a nusance. Nothing wrong with the V-6 engine, except that it needs about 50 more horses. The V-8 should be for working stiffs and heavy haulers. I wish that that they would get 30mpg (technology that Honda is noted for); I really think that Honda needs to work on that angle more than anything.
