The new 2009 Ford Fiesta has been spotted on American soil. This next generation Fiesta will be sold in Europe and in the U.S. when it is released.
The design of the Fiesta follows Ford of Europe's kinetic design language and the car is expected to look virtually the same on both sides of the Atlantic, although the U.S. version will likely have a longer nose to meet U.S. crash standards. This follows Ford's future plans of combining the design languages of U.S. Fords and Fords in Europe.
The new small Ford will be based on the new Mazda 2, although with more of a European look.
A 1.6L engine is going to the only engine offered in the U.S. when the car arrives sometime next year as a 2009 model. The car will most likely be manufactured in Mexico or Brazil to keep costs low.
It's good to see that Ford is finally going to have some small cars in their lineup. I wish that they would also bring the new Mazda 2 here as well.

Hi!
This car is the new Ford Ka, designed for South America and will be launched in earlys of 2008. The base of the car is the Ford Fiesta mk4, launched in Brazil in 1996. The front door of this prototype is the same of the Ka sold in Brasil since 1997.

I have a Fiesta now in Australia, and it is much bigger than the KA. The current model you can get either 3 or 5 door, I wouldn't expect that to change.
Great little cars, and they don't cost much to run.

The thing looks like it's meant to be off road with that much gap between the fenders and the wheels.

Yes, this is the new Ford Ka, not the new Fiesta. It's probably going to have a new name also (Fly or some other 'F' name). It's smaller than the Fiesta. A brazillian magazine had already published these pics some time ago.

I really hope Mazda has a change of heart with this thing. It looks far better than the Fit, Yaris, Versa, Aveo and new Scion models. Give it even 110hp of Mazda parts and it will be a fun little daily driver.

Yea it might be made for offroading. In Europe the Fiesta is a rally car along with the 2 door Focus hatchback and those both do well.
Only question is will we get the same peppy lil engine to go with it for a fun drive?

Dummy me, I purchased a 2008 Focus because my 2001 Focus was getting too old. Now I wish I would have waited just a wee bit longer for this one.
