Finally we have the first photos of the upcoming 2008 Honda Accord sans camouflage. Jalopnik has posted several photos of the new sedan and coupe thanks to Brenda Priddy & Co.
As you can tell the sedan is very conservative with very BMW-esque styling. The coupe looks almost identical to the concept version that was revealed earlier this year, although the front end looks less trucklike.
The powertrain for the new Accord hasn't been confirmed yet. Although there are rumors that there will be a 3.5L V6 putting out between 270-280 horsepower. The base 4-cylinder could also receive a power increase to 180 horsepower.

I wonder why they bothered with trying to cover it up?
It still looks just about like every other accord ever made.

The 90's just called and they want their car back.
I guess the only reason they bothered with covering it up in the first place is that they didn't want anyone to see how stunningly unoriginal it is.

The car itself is decent looking. A bit busy around the front with unessessary angles and such. Same to a lesser extent in the rear. When you have the winning formula I guess you don't want to change to much.
I personally would never buy one. You have to pay too much for the name.

I cringed when I saw the sedan. It looks like the Aura with a different nose and rear.
The coupe is an imporvement though.

Well, this accord will do what every accord before it did....and that's to sell to the masses with a basic, bland, reliable mode of transportation. Enthusiasts have to understand that we are not the type of people who buy these cars. There are plenty of people out there that just want reliable transportation without any bling-bling. My wife still can't tell the difference between a Corvette and a Camry. Do you really think she'll be able to tell that there are design hues from other models built into the Accord? No...she'll just see that it's the new model Accord and wants one...

You nailed it yup.
Honda doesn't set out to make ground breaking styling with the Accord. Stick your nose up at it if you want, but they have a proven formula.
substance over style for me everytime.
That being said, I think I do like my wifes '02 more than this, but I would still buy it, especially when the plop an oil burner in it.

Wow, this reminds me of a Saturn. I don't mean a Saturn Aura, I mean the lackluster Saturn L series. In high school, a friend of mine had a 1989 Accord that was excellent, and I've always had a small desire to have an Accord of my own. Unfortunately, the closest thing I'm going to get to that experience today is the Acura TSX. I hope they don't ruin that, too.

I honestly think theres something wrong with you if you are complaining about the looks of this Accord. It looks like a really nice and attractive car. More attractive then any of the american or japanese competition. Other than the G35 which is in a different class all together. The aura is much less attractive, the Fusion cant even hold a candle to this, the G6 cannot come close, I personally hate the looks of the new Camry, that snout on the front looks terrible.

Yuck! It looks like a cross between all the bad parts of the Hyundai Sonata, the Saturn Aura, and the Toyota Camry...with a bit of the really ugly Ridgeline built right in. And the rear of the coupe??? What were they thinking?
I honestly don't know what people see in this overpriced car. I have several friends who have had them, and they are not any more reliable than other, less expensive, well-made, and better looking cars out there. In fact, they generally don't have the same features standard as many others do for less money. One of my dear friends has the current model. I can say that it truly feels cheap as well as boring to drive. Admittedly, she is a retired, never-married schoolteacher who is very conservative in all that she does...I suppose that is the demographic that Honda goes after for this vehicle.

There are a lot of people hung up on the way a car looks. American car companies have focused on styling to the detriment of quality.
I'd rather have an unremarkable looking, well-made, reliable car than some fancy, dress-up, piece of garbage that won't work after 100k miles.
Cars are transportation and a money-sink.

uhh... No. American car companies have focussed on reducing manufacturing costs to the bone to the detriment of both style and quality.

Boy, and I thought the current model wasn't that attractive. It doesn't look graceful at all. It looks like a bunch of engineers styled it by going crazy with protractors :)

AHHH! Cover it back up, hide it! Cover it! hee hee.
Actually, it looks pretty good from A-pillar to C-pillar, Coupe and Sedan both. It's just those ends. Weird.

Pretty good looking with a high degree of sophistication. Which makes quality vehicles that provide high mileage integrity, and sells at a fair price with the parts that are well enhanced like Honda Accord Fuel Injector.

Uhh... No. American Unions have forced American Car companies to get behind the times when it comes to automation. Unions force manufacturers to keep certain employees doing certain jobs, even if a machine is more efficient. Add the fact that they command $45k-50k per year in salary for a job a trained monkey or robot could do. If it wasn't for poor quality of labor you wouldn't have poor car quality.

American cars? Who would want one of those? If you want me to buy one, build a car that won't need an transmission overhaul after a year and 1/2. Make one where the interior parts don't fall off in my hand when turning a knob, etc. Make one that feels like it's a solid unit with great handling, instead of feeling (and looking) like the parts are simply flying in close formation. Make one that I can do the marble test on without the marble falling into uneven gaps because it was put together crappy. Make one that can regain market share from Toyota, who has sold more than GM this year. After these things are done (among the many more items that need to be addressed), maybe I'll buy American...
