Ford plans on using the tagline "The Safest Car in America" for the recently introduced 2008 Ford Taurus. The Ford Taurus and the Mercury Sable received the highest possible crash test scores by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The IIHS awarded both cars with a five star rating and selected them as the "Top Safety Pick" for receiving the highest possible scored in rear, side and frontal collisions.
The new Taurus takes over where the old Ford Five-Hundred left off with a new more powerful engine and styling updates.

At one time the Taurus was neck and neck with the Accord for top selling car. And then Ford just walked away from the competition. We need our domestics to compete.

Here's the underdog touting nearly irrelavent facts about safety. All new mid-size cars are within very small parameters of each other in the safety catagory.
Are they actually going to market this OR continue to run "Ford Tough" truck commercials until the company is bankrupt?

Volvo has done very well marketing safety, if Ford has proof they should take advantage.

I think Ford should replace the slower selling Crown Victoria with this new Taurus. It is comparable in size, but is a heck of a lot safer and has a lot ore modern technology and styling AND has a more high performance engine. Ever since I saw this new Taurus about 4 months ago, I though it would look like a perfect police or FBI cruiser. Since it has a new engine it it with 265 hp, it could be a perfect police cruiser without the need of a specific engine like the Crown Vic needs. It also looks really sly and would go great in black, which is what the FBI needs.

Within one year I was hit in the front on the highway going 50 MPH and two days ago in the rear, my being the last car hit in a three car crash. My car drove away with just a small scratch on both thick large rubber bumpers. Not an injury to me. I know first hand what safety is. The other cars that received the damage were a 2006 SAAB, 2005 Camry, 2004 Impala. Two were towed.
and injuries were received. Give me a Taurus any day.

I was involved in a head collision a few weeks ago. Both of us were going about 45 mph in a blizzard. His merc suv was completely gone and my 02 taurus was smacked in on the front. From the inside, you could never tell anything was wrong - I walked away without a scratch on me and he was taken away on stretcher. Thankfully, nothing serious to him had happened. I wake up weeks later still appreciative of the safety of my old girl. So thankful - I bought an 06' five hundred and its like my old taurus, except a little larger and heavier (500 lbs!) around the sides. So what if I can't beat anyone else off the line - I TRUST my car to save my life if the time comes. I wouldn't do that with a civic.
