Cadillac's gas-guzzling SUV is about to get gas-saving technology that will hopefully help improve its image. Spy photographers have caught the upcoming hybrid version testing in Nevada. Unlike the upcoming Tahoe and Yukon hybrids, the Escalade will not get specific styling to differentiate it from the regular gas powered version.
Instead of different styling, the hybrid Escalade will only receive specific badges that will denote it as a hybrid, such as a large green "hybrid" label on the tachometer.
The basic hybrid powertrain in the Escalade will feature two electric motors that will assist the V8 engine. The technology will improve gas mileage by 25 percent.
The new Escalade Hybrid is expected to be released sometime this fall.

This is the first towing-luxury SUV to get hybrid, right?
Just checking.

Why do we need a hybrid.
I just fitted an larger gas tank to my truck and now it doesn't use as much gas as it used to. I don't have to fill up as often now.

Lol Peanut, but please make the sarcasm more obvious sometime.
A 25% increase? That still means gas mileage is under 20 mpg. Jeez.......

Escalade Hybrid... it just seems like an oxymoron.

Wow...instead of 12 MPG, I'll get 16 MPG! Woo hoo, now I can commute to work alone in a 6000 lb truck and feel 25% less guilty.

Why feel guilty, you are paying for the gas...it's your right to do whatever you want with your money. Of course, you would probably feel more comfortable with the government telling you what you can and can't buy so you don't have to think.

Hey, seen the news lately? If I'm commuting to work alone in a 6000 lb truck it already shows I'm not thinking. Or, maybe you think that wonderful black gold is going to flow forever.

This is great news, I already called my friend at the Cadi dealer. I have to use it for work (limousine) and celebs and clients love the SUV's for their convenience, practicality, and luxury.
If I can get those attributes with better fuel mileage, thank God!
This is not a vehicle meant for the general populace, but it will help a lot.
