BRABUS claims that their modified Mercedes-Benz CL600 (BRABUS SV12 Biturbo) is the world's most powerful and fastest coupe.
In order to increase the power of the large coupe they bored out the cylinders and gave the crankshaft a longer stroke, which increased the displacement of the V-12 from 5.5 liters to 6.3. That makes it the most powerful street legal V-12 engine in the world.
They also gave the car new intake manifolds, larger turbos, a more efficient intercooler and a low backpressure exhaust system, which all meet current European emissions standards.
The final output with the five-speed automatic transmission is 730 horsepower. This results in a 0-62 mph time of 4.0 seconds and a limited top speed of 210 mph.
What does the "most powerful car" cost? $242,000

That is nice, but there are many mod shops like BRABUS that easily make those numbers look pathetic. (this one isn't even close I have seen street legal suv's do a 4 second run to 60)

Hey omg read...how about you follow your own advice. Brian knows this is a Brabus that's why he said, 'shops like Brabus' as in 'like unto' as in 'similar to'...so maybe you should read the posts before you post, criticize someone and look like an idiot.
Obviously your limited command of the english language forces you to use the word 'like' like a valley girl of 90's pop culture lore. In this instance, 'like' doesnt conotate a filler word, like, duh as if. Wash the blond out, screw on the spectacles and stop thinking like the technosexual you undoubtably are.

Just because the Veyron has 2 doors does not make it a coupe. In the auto world, a "coupe" in the proper sense is a 2 door but one that has a backseat. The backseat is usually useless but it's there. So the headline is correct to say a coupe.

"limited top speed of 210 mph" means it can go faster...
and for the Ryan/OMG read/Brain thing, Brians sentence is not gramaticaly correct as he is implying that BRABUS can make there own numbers look pathetic?
So all in all you all need to read.

I think that car is badass. Yes, the Bugatti Veyron is the fastest production car in the world, but it isn't all that practical (not that gas mileage on this would be either), although, if I remember correctly, it does have A/C and a stereo system, unlike many supercars. As for mod shops making numbers close to Brabus', that may be true, but most of the time the finish of their products is crappy, and why do that to a Mercedes. It also makes it worth more to have it done by famous tuners. I bet Brabus even has a warranty. That goes for any car. If I could afford it and had a choice between a Saleen, Roush, or SVT GT500, or buy a plain GT and have a local tuner put out the same numbers...I'd go with the previous names in a heartbeat. Also, notice that the Brabus only meets "European" standards. In the event it makes it to the US it will be hard to make street legal without seriously detuning it. That goes for all the great European cars that are higher performance than the US versions.
P.S. Even the Bugatti Veyron is speed limited. Watch the video of it hitting 253 mph and the tach is only at 6k rpm. Sure, it might be having torque and drag problems at that speed, but I read it has a speed limiter to prevent "taking off".

It sounds like Brian used "like BRABUS" in a sense that meant "similar to BRABUS." Looking at his initial post, he was saying that this car by BRABUS is nice, however there are other shops that can make even better cars.

"The backseat is usually useless but it's there. So the headline is correct to say a coupe."
I've never, ever heard that. Where the hell did you get that from? If it's two doors and not a convertible, it's a coupe. If it's two doors, two seats, and a convertible, it's a roadster.
If you want to insist that it HAS to have a backseat, then the fastest would be the McLaren F1 instead of the Veyron.

Hey, the, reason, everyone, is, confused, is, that, the, response, should, have, had, at, least, one, more, comma.
Here, ya, go...,

Ok, 1st off I didn't post anything under Ryan's name.
As for the grammar, "like Brabus" comes across as him using Brabus as an example. Now if he said "similiar ", that would be a different story,
Ryan, I understand you need to flip out your e-peen and pretend to be all bad ass, but really, this isn't a "OMG Valley girl" moment. I know they reject you and you are bitter, but this isn't the time to show it, kthx.

$242,000
For that price I could get 2 fully-loaded supercharged Jaguar convertibles and enjoy ripping the asphalt along PCH with the sun shining on me.
For that price I could get 3 tricked out Mustangs and enjoy ripping the asphalt along PCH with the sun shining on me.
$242,000 for a car - and then some a-hole driving a beat-up $2,000 car rams me in an intersection, or another a-hole bangs their door into mine in a parking lot, all the while I'm paying perhaps $5,000 a month in insurance fees to protect my $242,000 car that is depreciating faster than 1,000 bleeding-edge desktops.
ANYBODY who spends $242,000 on a car needs their head examined and their wealth forfeited.
But I guess as long as capitalism rules the RICH will always be STUPID.

Oh, and I drive a 2005 GTO.

The Veyron is technically not a coupe, it is a super-coupe, not powered by a single engine setup. The fastest production coupe is the new 2011 CTS-V coupe. 3.69 0-60 and around a 10-11 second quarter-mile. 556 horsepower and 551 torque. Also, it depends on what is meant by fastest. quickest? fastest to the top end? or just highest top speed? Some of the highest top speed cars do not get there quickly. Plus the CTS-V looks WAY better and costs under 100 k. The Bugatti is strange as hell, costs over 1 million, and is unconventional- it is also heavy as shit.
