Automakers have just released their April 2007 U.S. sales figures. Here is the list of the top 10 best selling vehicles last month (in order by number of sales). The bottom of the list may surprise you.
2. Chevrolet Silverado

3. Toyota Camry/ Hybrid
![]()
4. Toyota Corolla/Matrix
![]()
5. Dodge Ram
![]()
6. Honda Civic/ Hybrid
![]()
9. Dodge Caravan
![]()
10. Honda CR-V
![]()
There are a few surprises on the list for last month. The CR-V made it to the top 10? I wonder if this is the first generation to ever perform this well. I guess the public has spoken and they do not require a V6 engine. A lot of people complained about the fact that Honda only offers a 4-cylinder, while its competition offers V6 engines.
The Chevy Impala is almost selling as well as the Accord? Who would have thought the day would happen that a Chevy sedan would almost beat out a Honda. Luckily for Honda the Accord will be redesigned this fall. It is also surprising to see that the Civic is outselling the Accord as well.
The Ford F-Series and Chevrolet Silverado have consistently been the top selling vehicles in the U.S. The fact that they are at the top of the list for last month is not a surprise. Although sales of the big trucks have been declining due to high gas prices and the housing market decline.
Toyota's Camry and Corolla top the passenger car sales. It is interesting that the Corolla is selling so well considering how old the current design is. The Corolla is out selling the newer Civic.
The one vehicle missing from this month's list is the Nissan Altima, which was in the number nine spot last month.

These cars are much cheaper than they are in the UK - in some cases you have to look twice to see that this really is the right price. We have it bad in the UK with a lot of things, not just cars..jobs, housing, access to resources. You are very lucky compared to us.

If you lived in Australia you would think that the UK had cheap cars.
I would like to know if these results are inclusive of fleet purchases or not.

If you lived on the moon, you wouldn't know what a car was! On top of that, you wouldn't even want one!

I live in Brazil. What´s a car? Is it better than a donkey? Can you have sex with it?

David,
As a brazilian I take offense to that statement. Nothing is better than having sex with a donkey.

If it ever became too expensive for the average person to afford a car here, I'd just ride my bike to work. It's only about 15 miles each way.
Then there's the bus for bad weather too. And some of the busses even have bike racks on them.
Makes me wonder if high gas prices will indirectly help our obesity problem.

You are just lucky to be leaving in places like, Australia, Malaysia, UK and US - so you have cheap cars.
I come from Denmark - i really dont think any of you knows what car-taxes is, before you have visited Denmark.
Well at least we have imported some brazilian monkeys, so we have something to dream about, while we are walking to work.

Dodge Caravan has had big incentive package. $4k cash allowance plus free DVD player. It sells cars but does it help their bottom line? My guess would be no.

I live in Texas and I do have to say these figures are 100% representative of the cars on our roads down here. I could have guessed 8 of these top 10 off the top of my head. Also Texas is responsible for most of the truck sales in the US. Its sometimes cheaper to buy a truck than one of those sedans up there.

Sorry, but you really don't know how expensive a car can be unless you live in Brazil...
Our most basic Honda Civic (VERY basic), just with an automatic gearbox, cost us from US$ 35K. A Civic Si is from US$ 50K...
And nearly 50% of the price is taxes...

Cityslicker, I'm with you lol. Freaking hicks!
How do you like those newer Ford commercials with the guy who tries to makes his voice go a few octaves lower than it can. I'm sure he appeals to the rednecks.
But then again, I'm sure they're including fleet sales for the trucks and the lame ass Impala.

So either you must be um, how should I say, Urban-ly challenged, or have REALLY bad taste to drive one of the 10 best selling vehicles.
If I didn't have curb-side trash removal, I might consider a Silverado, Ram or F-Series (in that order).
I'm just afraid that if I did that, I would then be FORCED to buy a Fifth-wheel Travel-trailer, some horses (and a different trailer), a couple Harleys (oops, I should have said motorcycles, now we're gonna start the whole Japanese bikes vs. American bikes vs. European bikes thing... oh, and yet another trailer) and a 30+ foot boat (and still ANOTHER trailer).
But, I couldn't imagine buying ANYTHING else on this list... Nothing.

sure, the trucks are huge gas guzzlers, but aren't you glad when your friend has one and you need to move a sofa and don't feel like paying someone else or renting a U-Haul? i mean you don't want to pay the gas bill that he does, but you're glad he's willing to. Plus without truck sales U.S automakers would be in an even bigger hole than the one that they already dug themselves into, gotta throw them a bone every now and then if their sedans are going to blow.

You obviously have no clue what you are talking about. The guy you are referring to is actually a bass opera singer. His name is Mike Rowe and his voice is that low.

Mike Rowe sings Opera?? lol.
Now I know why he sucks at performing 'Dirty Jobs'. He also does the voice over for 'The Most Dangerous Catch'.

Texas is mostly rural farm and industry (think oil). Trucks are infinitely useful, which is why we buy them. Not to mention they are very reliable and can take a beating.

Yeah, those american trucks of yours do kick serious ass. Quality? Don't know about that one.....let's say "area to be immensley improved"
Since I live in Sweden, where we tend to over taxate anything half as big as american trucks, and now days anything that is harmful and any way near fossil fuel. the only way to get a hold of one is importing.
But in this son of a country you need a truck drivers license due too the heavy weight; 4 metric tons!. lucky me I have it.
If any one just happen to have a Ford Excursion 7,3 powerstroke diesel for sale, I'll buy it :)

The Impala is just the right size. We have the Impala SS and have found it to be a solid family sedan. I'm not surprised it almost beat the Honda.
