2009 Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione Spy Photos...This Should be the First Alfa We Will Get in the US

Spy photos of the upcoming Alfa Romeo C8 have surfaced. These pics were taking while the car was testing on the Nurburgring in Germany. The C8 has had many changes from the original concept car such as new air intakes, softer edges, and wider A-pillars.

The car will be powered by a Maserati sourced 4.6L 450hp V8 and 347 lb.ft. of torque mated to a six-speed transmission.

The C8 will go on sale this fall in Europe and it should eventually make it to the US, who knows when that will be.

Hmmm...looks like a hybrid of a Mazda, a Toyota and a Hyundai - with a (small) touch of Porsche thrown in.

In other words, it is a bit...unmemorable.

-----------------------------------

In other news, Alfa will need a real dealer support network first!

mihalakis:

where did you see the mazda toyota hyundai hybrid?if you only knew a bit of car history you should know that this car is a rebirth of the 1967 alfa romeo tipo33 stradale...but for you it's just a toyota mazda something hybrid...ignorants....

Kryojenix:

I want one with that colour scheme!! :-P

Snake:

Hey, if *you* do not see traces of the Mazda MX-3, the sixth-generation Toyota Celica, the Hyundai Tiburon - with pieces of the Posche 924 / 944 thrown in - then that's *your* problem of not knowing "a bit of car history"

Lindsay:

It looks like they've made very few changes from the concept car, and that thing was sexy: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alfa_Romeo_8C_Competizione

Also, Alfa is part of Fiat Group. Maserati or Ferrari dealerships would probably carry the 8C, as it's meant to be more exclusive than both of those marques.

Only a retarded faggot named Snake would argue on the internet. Congrats retardo-faggot champion of t3h intarweb. Also, I fucked ALL of your mom's.

The greenhouse is still a bit "generic", but the rest of the car is really very nice.

Maybe it's just the camoflage on this photo which is hitting me wrong - it accentuates the fender bulges, a la Tiburon, and the greenhouse / rear window, a la MX3 / 944. I think it could use a more wasp-waisted shape to really seem completely exciting: it is a bit too "fat" in the middle to scream "sport car", and widening the A pillar just makes that worse. The side view mirrors aren't too 'impressive', a bit generic.

The concept car's front end is great, though - hopefully it will carry through. Unique and nice - the carry through of the grille to make a 'power bulge' is nice, and the crisper top edges on the prototype's front fenders are way more exciting. Softening up the curves is what is giving it a "generic" feel.

gm0n3y:

I think the side shot looks similar to a Ferrari Modena.

Obviously DaMinority:

Yeah, I see the Tiburon, the others, not as much. It's probably a better looking car when it doesn't look like a red paint truck that was sick from eating a charcoal factory threw up on it.

Oh, and I don't even know any of your Moms (apostrophe deleted for grammar).

Obviously DaMinority:

I do see the historical Alfa in it, too. But in fairness everybody said the S-Type Jaguar looked like a Lincoln. When in fact it looked nothing like any Lincoln ever, instead it looked like the old Mark series from the early 60s.

Jack:

The car in the picture is the actual 8C, not a new one, is covered because it'is trying the new motor, a new motor, a 4.7cc and 460CV..

As I have heard on the news this concept car was shown in Frankfurt 2003 with the new features such as O2 sensor that came from , mesh-style wheels, etc... In Paris 2006 was shown the production version....we've already seen lot's of spy shops of the car camouflaged and testing.

Ray Hapes:

The whole Japo thing is absurd. If you see a connection its because the Japonese either hired Italian design or stole it. You are seeing the real thing here my friend. This has Pinin written all over it.
Actually if you take a look at the new Maserati sedans you see that this is the sport car iteration through and through. All I know is that we need more Alfas in the US. and soon. It's a pity that it has to be GM that does it.

GTA:

you ingorants fat old americans!!!!!!!!! you don't know notting of car
you only know about big heavy old styled trunks. fox america

Tommy Boy:

Let me get this straight, is't ok for you Europeans to make cars with 450hp V8s, but when we Americans bild them were red neck hicks.
(You're the ignrorant one GTA not us.)

"Design has always played a large role in the history of Alfa Romeo. There have been many Alfa Romeo concept cars, often made by famous design houses and designers. The BAT series of concepts from the 1950s was a joint collaboration project with the Italian design house Bertone. Other famous Italian coachbuilders and design houses like Pininfarina, Bertone, Zagato and ItalDesign-Giugiaro have also played a great role in Alfa Romeo's history, and even today some of models are designed and constructed by these great names."
