Spy photos of the upcoming Opel Vectra have surfaced. Most people know that the Opel Vectra is essentially the same thing as the Saturn Aura that we have here in the U.S. This is likely to continue with the next generation Vectra, which is due for 2010.
The new Vectra will ride on GM's new Epsilon II platform and will be bigger inside and have better handling than the current version. The car will come with an assortment of 4-cylinder and V6 engines. The automaker's new 6-speed transmission will also be on board as well as all-wheel-drive.
Is it just me or does this car look like the current Nissan Altima or any other Toyota product? I do like this one better than the current Aura/Vectra.

I like it. If it does look like competing products thats OK as long as it looks good. Now if they just have the mechanicals and interiors they will have a good competitive product.

"If it does look like competing products thats OK as long as it looks good."
Not when they're blatantly copying another company. That's why I don't like the current IS line from Lexus, because it blatantly copies from BMW.

Well, I agree. As long as it looks good (go and look back Saturn's cars!!!, what an eyesore!!! MY GOD). Yes they are a few years behind than the Japs, but no one beats the Europeans in design. Take a look at the Renault, Citroen etc...

Do I have this right? You make a statement that all Japanese cars look alike: or at least the Nissan Altima or any other Toyota product, and then you slam an American car company for producing something similar?
Ridiculous.

The Saturns are patterned/copied from the European Opel Vectras........NOT the other way around as the article suggests. We are REALLY lagging as a car design/performance company but it's the fault of the average American driver who insists on better cup holders than better handling. Oh, well...........

Asian car manufacturers copy European designs. Not the other way around. Look at Hyundai. They went from copying Mercedes' look to copying BMW's. Kia now copies Mercedes. Toyota's Camry looks a lot like every other car out there right now, its not anything new. In fact it reminds me a lot of the Chrysler 300m from before the 300c came out.
