Spy photographers have caught the new 2009 Mazda 6 during testing. The new car is bigger and more curvacious than the current model. As you can tell the new car will adopt many of the current styling themes of the current Mazda lineup. There is no word on the engine lineup, although there are rumors that the car will ride on the same platform as the new Ford Mondeo and Volvo S80. Also expect to see a version of Ford's 3.5L V6 under the hood.

"The new car is bigger and more curvacious than the current model."
They just had to ruin it, didn't they? I think the current 6 is one of the sportiest, yet cleanest looking sedans out there.
And of course every family sedan worth it's cost has a 3.5L, 260+ HP V6.

Well, since the 2008 Mazda CX-9 will be getting the 3.7L V6 w/ 273hp and 270lb ft, I suspect that the next Mazda6 will get the same. I am hoping for a 2.5L I-4 with at least 175hp.

If and when this car hits the streets next year i am thinking in 2009 when i get one i hoping that it will have the V6 engine with at least 260 horsepower mated to either a 6-speed manual transmission or a newly developed 6-speed Dsg type- transmission with steering wheel paddles...that will be a great combination..what do you guys think about that? and i am hoping that they will have the new mazda 6 undisguised within two months because they are suppose to have the car displayed at the Frankfurt auto show in September.

You can't have everything; can you? I skipped the almost perfect Mazda 6 this time in it's Station wagon manual V6 because it had seats that were too short for me. They fixed it since. Also the engine wasn't torque y enough; the mew engine fixes that. 4 Wheel drive? Fixed. But; they are cancelling the station wagon? M. Mazda, why are you forcing me into a Audi or a Volvo. I am a Mazda fan. I've owned 7 brand nefw mazdas including my lovely 2006 MX-5. Please make my Mazda 6 Station wagon with 230 lb/feet of torque and a manual in the 4 wheel drive. You are the only car maker that can give such a car some zoom zoom.
Please

Mazda has always been the leader in sporty designs. I think that they have ruined this by making the new 2009 look like an altima.
2009 Mazda 6 :

Altima:

I think they should change their designers. Maybe they work for nissan.

First of all the new mazda 6 has the RX-8 fender flares and the back end actually looks like a bmw to me which looks good. Anyway, if anyone copied someone it was nissan copying the RX-8 design.

The 2009 Mazda6 will have the 3.7 CX-9 engine per Mazda. There will be no 5-door or Wagon. And it looks different than the Japan 2009 Mazda6. And the American Mazda6 built in Flat Rock MI for 2009 will be out next summer and will also have no AWD.The front fenders will kind of look like a RX-8. No pics of this car are on the net yet as it is Mazda's best kept secret.

Ofcourse Boston, Mazda is a race car company and in race cars they always have manual transmission & as far as production cars. Mazda have for every vehicle manual transmission. For the 6 cylinder vehicle there will be a 6 speed manual transmission standard automatic will be an option.
